a non - profit organization dedicated to discovering and promoting effective
solutions to global poverty problems.
In close partnership with decision
makers -- the policymakers, practitioners, investors, and donors working with
the poor around the world -- IPA designs and evaluates potential solutions to
poverty problems using randomized evaluations, the most rigorous evaluation
method available.
We also mobilize and support these
decision makers to use these solutions to build better programs and policies at
scale.
About the Project: IPA
seeks qualified applicant for the position of a Field officer for the Water,
Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Benefits Project.
Wash Benefits is a 5 year project
that is evaluating the combined impacts of water, hygiene, sanitation and
nutrition interventions on the health of young children in Western Kenya.
The Project is currently on its final
year focuses on evaluating the health benefits of sanitation, hygiene,
household water treatment and nutrition, using a large-scale, randomized
evaluation that is taking place in Western province.
We are currently seeking Field
Officers to focus on behavior change communication activities of the WASH
benefits project.
Overview: The Field Officer will be based in the Western
region Kakamega County, and will be required to travel in the County.
He/she will work closely with fellow
Field Officers and with WASH Benefits Implementation management team,
including, Field Managers and Research Associates (RA’s).
The Field officer will spend
approximately 90% of his/her time in the Field
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identifying and confirming eligible study
respondents
- Get informed consent from study participants
- Collecting data and taking anthropometry
measurements with strict adherence to the SOP
- Ensure proper storage and handling field
equipment such as shorr boards and scales
- Calibrating field equipment like scales, shorr
boards using standard blocks of known weights and stadiometres
respectively
- Collecting data related to stool, urine and
toy ball samples
- Collection and appropriate aliquoting of
stool, urine and toy ball samples
- Serve as team leader: Communicating with local
administration (village elders), mobilizing guides, filling data forms and
uploading data on the WASH server
- Any other duties assigned by the Field
Manager/Research Associate
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health;
- Interest in public health, nutrition, and/or
community development;
- Lab experience a plus
