Heritage Insurance Tanzania Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Job Vacancy

Heritage Insurance is Tanzania’s leading insurance company and boasts an impressive list of blue chip clients. Due to relocation of its incumbent, Heritage is seeking a dynamic Chief Executive Officer to take up this key position in Dar es Salaam with effect from July 2010.
The Position:
Heritage Tanzania is a functionally autonomous operation and the CEO is responsible for its strategic and operational management. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
The Company has a full complement of well-qualified managers, but the CEO has direct line responsibility for:
  • corporate marketing
  • human resources
  • corporate risk and business continuity management
  • reinsurance
The CEO frequently participates in technical decision-making. The nature of the Company’s business is such that this participation requires a very deep and broad understanding of advanced insurance products and risk-financing techniques.
The Person:

Candidates wishing to apply need to satisfy the following minimum requirements:
  • a relevant university degree
  • an ACII or recognized equivalent insurance qualification
  • at least 10 years experience in a senior managerial position in the insurance industry
N.B. candidates who do not satisfy the above requirements will not be considered
The following personal attributes are considered as vital for the position:
  • a proven history of successful strategic management of a large business
  • a thorough understanding of insurance company finances and financial reporting
  • strong customer relations and people skills
  • willingness to travel frequently
