Pharmaceutical Technologist Job in Kenya

The Pharmaceutical Technologist works in a team with the Procurement Officer and reports to the Snr. Procurement & Logistics officer. The incumbent will be responsible of performing tasks related to pharmaceutical drugs and provide a variety of warehousing and stock management responsibilities, which include inventory management, receiving of goods, storage and distribution of goods. The Pharmaceutical Technologist will be required to liaise and work closely with the Procurement & Logistics Team to ensure that the core objectives of Marie Stopes Kenya are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Pharmaceutical Technologist

  • Maintain and update Standard product list.
  • Receive and check incoming Medical products and supplies (from suppliers and other organization) and ensure quality and standards of the medical products and supplies.
  • Regularly update q-track report for new products and Manage, Support and implement Q-Track
  • Conduct random checks on quality of drugs and participate in sampling process of products for pharmacovigilance purposes.

  • Monitor drugs’ expiry date and minimum medical stock level in order to protect the supply rupture and report findings to Snr Procurement Officer.
  • Maintain product quality and Product quality issues reported and issues resolved within 10days of receipt of complaint.
  • Participate in monthly/quarterly quantification meetings.
  • Support the implementation of good storage practices in all stores/Pharmacies within MSK e.g establish re-order levels, sorting of items, arrangement of stores, temperature tracking and FEFO arrangements.
  • Update the Stock management systems E HR and Tradogram in line SPL whilst maintaining high quality and cost effectiveness.
  • SOPS in place, regularly updated and strictly adhered to.

Stores and warehousing

  • Monitor and track overall stock levels in the central warehouse as well as the centre level.
  • Oversee the receiving, storing, and distribution of drugs, equipment, and other supplies i.e. Maintain inbound receiving records
  • Ensure that all inventory is accurately recorded and tracked
  • Ensuring availability and updated bin cards in all stores handling medical supplies
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods
  • Maintain a clean and organized storage area
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies
  • Manage and supervise stores staff
  • Develop and implement procedures for efficient stores management
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports on stores operations
  • Provide support to the clinics in regards to their supply need

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Pharmacy from accredited institutions by Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  • Enrolled Pharmaceutical Technologist with Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  • Minimum of three (3) years post training experience in the same position
  • At least a Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience in warehouse and Inventory management preferably with a medical store.
  • The Candidate should have experience working with any ERP system.
