About PowerGen: PowerGen Renewable Energy is a fast-growing renewable energy
company based in Nairobi. Founded in 2011, the company has installed 150+
renewable energy systems, including more than 40 micro-grids and connected
2,000+ homes and businesses in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Somalia, and
South Sudan to clean and reliable electricity.
We build, own and operate AC
micro-grids to bring power to residential and commercial customers in a
for-profit manner. With over 100 employees, an 11,000 sq. ft. workshop and
headquarters in Nairobi and Tanzanian office in Arusha, PowerGen is building a
local company that is set to have an impact on the energy sector in Africa for
years to come.
Job Description: As the Project Accounts Associate you will play a critical role
in supporting the implementation of a first-of-its-kind, multi-year
electrification project taking place in Kericho, Kenya which will bring power
to over 5,000 currently unelectrified households.
You will be organizationally situated
within the company’s finance team (headquartered in Nairobi) but will be based
full-time at a project location in Kericho, Kenya for the duration of the
project (estimated at roughly 8 months).
You will report to the Project
Accountant in Kericho, but will also interact with PowerGen’s core finance team
in Nairobi and Arusha, Tanzania.

Responsibilities
A more detailed, but not exhaustive,
list of responsibilities is given below:

Operating accounting functions
fluently within PowerGen’s ERP system (Netsuite)
·
Interfacing between Project-based
financial activities and PowerGen’s own ERP system (Netsuite) and the team that
manages it in Nairobi
·
Tracking, organizing, and filing
critical financial documents
·
Managing petty cash transactions and
cash reconciliations
·
Ensuring full legal and accounting
compliance of accounting activities
·
Ensuring all payments amounts &
records are accurate
·
Assisting with audits
·
Properly utilizing internal systems
(email, calendar, project management dashboard) to maintain operational
organization and efficiency metrics
·
Completing bi-annual self and team
reviews and collaborate with management on training progress and goals
·
Support office operations and
information technology items as needed

2+ years’ relevant work experience
·
Degree in accounting/finance CPA is
an added advantage

based full-time at a project location in Kericho, Kenya.
You will report to the Project
Principal in Kericho, but will also interact with PowerGen’s core Supply Chain
team in Nairobi and Arusha, Tanzania.

Responsibilities

Learn existing inventory management
systems at both PowerGen and the client, which has a full-fledged and mature
ERP system separate from PowerGen’s
·
Oversee and track the movement of
materials from their requisition, storage, deployment to site, and reverse
logistics back to storage after installations are complete
·
Communicate with counterparts on the
procurement, inventory and logistics teams of the client
·
Track inventory movement activities
in Excel and other computer programs (including PowerGen’s ERP system,
Netsuite)
·
Produce client-ready reports on
inventory status, history, and projections
·
Maintain a harmonized item list for
the project including vendor cost tracking, lead times, and other key item
information
·
Managing and tracking tools and other
non-consumables for the project
·
Creating documentation to underpin
critical inventory activities, and ensuring compliance with completing
documentation
Skills and
Qualifications
·
4+ years’ work experience in a
manufacturing, construction environment
·
Relevant university degree
·
Prior experience in inventory
management or related field, with proven skills in using software programs to
aide these technical tasks (eg. Netsuite)
·
Proven track record of developing,
implementing, and improving systems
·
Fluent in Kiswahili and English, both
in written and oral communications
·
Strong interpersonal and
communication skills
·
Intelligent, eager to learn and
honest
·
Highly organized and strong attention
to detail
·
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft
Office
·
