Coordinator (Leave No Girl Behind, LNGB)
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
About us: CMMB is a global non -
governmental, humanitarian and development organization with a special focus on
making healthcare available to all.
This initiative aims to
support the hardest to reach, highly marginalized out-of-school adolescent
girls aged between 10 and 19 years in Isiolo, Marsabit and Garissa to gain
basic literacy, numeracy and other relevant skills.
CMMB will work with the
Ministry of Education’s Council of Nomadic Education, County Education Boards
and Gender Departments to help these girls achieve foundational-to-fluent
literacy, numeracy and life skills thus improving their learning opportunities
in order to realize their full potential and transform their future.
The Position: CMMB is recruiting for
the position of Finance and Admin Coordinator to be based at our offices in
Nairobi, Kenya for an anticipated award under the DfID-funded LNGB solicitation.
The position will report to
the Project Manager (LNGB).
As Finance and Admin
Coordinator (LNGB), your primary function will be to ensure all necessary
support services are provided as needed to the project team.
This will require preparing
and presenting all financial reports, developing responses to any management or
audit queries and ensuring the integrity of all procurement of goods and
services under the award.
You will set an example of
high ethical standards in all matters related to the use and reporting of
resources.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide to
Project Manager (LNGB) accurate, complete and timely financial and
operational analyses and briefings for decision-making purposes.
- Lead the
accurate, complete and timely production and distribution of all monthly,
quarterly and annual project budgets and reports in collaboration with the
LNGB team.
- Ensure DfID
and internal reporting compliance requirements are completed in line with
agreed standards and on a timely basis.
- Comply with
CMMB indirect cost recovery policies and ensure that all shared program
costs for LNGB are properly calculated and allocated.
- Ensure the
cost-effective and timely procurement and receipt/disbursement of services
and materials required by the LNGB project through the application of CMMB
and donor procurement policies and procedures relating to:
- adequacy of
competitive bidding;
- technical
competence;
- timeliness of
delivery; and
- value for
money.
Qualifications and
Experience:
- Bachelors
degree in Finance, Accounting or Administration.
- At least four
years’ experience in Finance with two of these involving grants in the
international NGO sector.
- Demonstrable
experience of managing project administration and procurement needs.
- Strong
analytical and problem resolution skills, attention to detail, and the
ability to work effectively under time pressure, and with auditors.
- Demonstrated
record that reflects high ethical standards and fiscal stewardship, good
business judgement and financial acumen.
- Demonstrated ability
to foster collaborative relationships with other teams.
- Models
teamwork behaviour and team building skills.

(LNGB) is a project under the Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) of the United
Kingdom Department for International Development.
This initiative aims to
support the hardest to reach, highly marginalized out-of-school adolescent

The Position: CMMB is recruiting for the position of
Technical Adviser to be based in the field (either Garissa, Isiolo or Marsabit)
for an anticipated award under the DfID-funded LNGB solicitation.
The position will report to
the Project Manager LNGB.
As Technical Adviser (LNGB),
your primary function will be to ensure high technical standards for all
project deliverables under the LNGB project as awarded.
This will require provision
of technical advice and guidance to county-based team member as well as other
stakeholders the project engages with.
In addition, you will provide
technical summaries and briefings for the Project Manager as required to
national-level engagements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Remain
up-to-date on all relevant Ministry of Education policies and guidance
regarding pastoralist education, especially about girls.
- Provide
technical guidance and implementation support to all project teams.
- Provide
technical review of all project reporting and other external documents.
- Work with
county-level stakeholder (including Ministry of Education representatives
of the Nomadic Education Council) to ensure the LNGB project’s
implementation is in support of government policies and plans.
- Work with
local advocacy and legal organisations to promote girls’ rights (both
regarding education and more broadly).
Qualifications and
Experience:
- Bachelors
degree in education or related field.
- Five or more
years’ experience in the education, gender and/or pastoralist sectors
- Five or more
years’ prior experience working in the field with an international NGO.
- Three or more
years’ experience a technical advisory role.
- Experience
working with children and youth programs that promote livelihoods.
- Demonstrated
record that reflects high ethical standards and a strong result-driven
work ethic.
- Good
communicator with experience in coaching and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated
experience earning the trust of others and fostering collaborative
relationships.
- As both a
listener and leader, models teamwork behaviour and team building
skills.

three County Coordinators to be based in Marsabit, Garissa and Isiolo counties
for an anticipated award under the DfID-funded LNGB solicitation.
These positions will report
to the Project Manager (LNGB).
As County Coordinator (LNGB),
your primary function will be to ensure all planned activities in your county
of assignment are carried out as scheduled with effective involvement of other
county-level stakeholders such as government agencies, religious and local
community leaders.
You will ensure open
communication between the project and its stakeholders to ensure buy-in and
support for achieving the LNGB objectives.
You will demonstrate CMMB and
Caritas’ high ethical and programmatic standards in all you do.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee
day-to-day LNGB project implementation in the county of assignment.
- Liaise with
government officials and other leaders (inc. all faiths) within the county
to ensure the project is understood, accepted and supported.
- Work closely
with assigned representatives of pastoralist communities the project is
focused on to ensure their full engagement.
- Guide local
civil society actors to engage positively with local government to ensure
workplans and budgets are developed in support of county development
plans.
- Work closely
with civil society groups who are active in the field of Gender-Based
Violence and Girls’ Rights. Qualifications and Experience:
- Certificate/Diploma
in development studies or related field.
- At least four
years’ experience in rural development in pastoralist areas.
- Experience
working with girls’ issues (either directly or supporting those who are).
- Proven skills
in planning, implementing and reporting on field-level development
projects.
- Demonstrated
record that reflects high ethical standards and taking responsibility to
deliver results.
- Demonstrated
ability to build good relations with the full range of local stakeholders
active at county level.
- Ability to
communicate in the applicable local dialect for your county of
assignment.
