company has recently won a car dealership with Toyota East Africa to distribute
Hino buses and trucks.
Accountant
1 Position
Role
overview: Reporting
to the general manager, the accountant will be responsible for overseeing the
finance and accounting aspects of the Hino Business.
This
includes ensuring that accounts are updated, collections are carried out in a
timely manner and all sales records are tallied with accurate data from the
office.
Role accountabilities
Role accountabilities
- Prepare,
examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other
financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to
reporting and procedural standards;
- Compute
taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment,
reporting and other tax requirements;
- Analyze
business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and
obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice;
- Establish
tables of accounts, update statements and assign entries to proper
accounts;
- Develop,
maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare
budgeted costs to actual costs;
- Update
recordkeeping and accounting systems daily making use of an appropriate
accounting software;
- Survey
operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, and
maintain solutions to business and financial problems;
- Advise
management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and
the assumptions underlying budget forecasts;
- Supporting
field personnel with all accounting needs to enable them compute customer
discounts, incentives and commissions owed.
- Coordinate
timely completion of sales record by all staff in order to tally them with
payroll and commissions.
- Continually
updating all project costs against budget and raising flags where the
former surpasses the latter.
- Performing
any other duty as allocated by the General Manager from time to time.
Qualifications, skills experience.
- Possession
of full accounting qualification like CPA or ACCA;
- Possession
of a relevant degree from an accredited university will be an added
advantage;
- 3
years’ experience in general accounting work with exposure to payables,
receivables, tax and compliance, statutory returns, bank
reconciliations among others;
- Possession
of a up to date certificate of good conduct;
- Excellent
organizational and presentation skills;
- High
levels of integrity and professionalism;
- Ability
to work under pressure with little or no supervision;
- Excellent
time management skills;
- Good
report writing and presentation skills;
- Good
attention to detail;
