The position will also support &
assist in performing high level financial analysis to support Senior Management
in resource allocations, for preparing quality budget briefing materials, for
monitoring budgets and expenditures and providing financial information
required for decision making at various levels in the organization, and for the
implementation of data maintenance and reporting systems that effectively
support the needs of program/service delivery areas in the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial reporting: Coordination &
compilation of the weekly, bi weekly and monthly financial reports from
all the operations in the region & input into the reporting system.
Ensure Intercompany transactions are agreed and reconciled. Follow up
ensuring timely delivery of reports as dictated by group deadlines and
ensure their accuracy and completeness.
- Forecast & Budgets: Coordination &
compilation of all excel based forecast & budgets from all operations
and input into the reporting system.
- Training & Support: Ensuring that
instructions, responsibilities, timelines, deliverables & systems are
well understood by the team and the finance managers of the East African
Companies.
- Analysis: Facilitating analysis of forecasts
reports & budgets for accountability accuracy and planning.
- Consolidation: Processing the
consolidated reports for the region and ensuring accuracy, consistency and
timelines are met.
- Financial Monitoring: undertake visits when
necessary to the operations to ensure quality in all aspects of financial
management including review of reconciliations and audits &
understanding of the individual operations.
- Assisting in the development and/or
improvement of routines, tools or systems for monitoring evaluation,
accountability and reporting, as feasible and required. Assist in the
development of financial systems to ensure integration with the main
reporting system – Hyperion.
Performance Measures:
Output/Standards
- Reports, budgets, forecasts delivered within
deadlines as dictated by the group reporting schedule:
- Flash – 2nd working day by Noon
- Month end reporting by 8th working day
- Quality, accuracy and timeliness of financial
information verified and approved by the relevant managers
- Planning and control and the provision of
appropriate, accurate and timely information ensures appropriate
management decisions on resource allocations and expenditures and maximum
utilization of the organization’s resources. This also allows for better
decision making and financial planning – an important aspect for a budget
or forecast
- Solutions to financial management issues,
problems and responses to audit recommendations
Working Relationships:

- Liaise closely with all Finance Managers in
the region and where necessary other departmental Heads & staff to
achieve results
Externally
- Communicate and liaise with auditors, Head
office and other relevant partners local & global offices when needed
so as to provide accurate and timely information & reports in all
aspects
Work Environment:
- May be required to work outside office,
outside normal working hours and travel to East African countries where
need arises for support reasons
- May be required to attend training &
seminars outside the country
- May be required to work late & over
weekends & holidays
Desired Educational
Background
- University education or equivalent experience
- Several years’ experience & in depth
understanding of planning & reporting including budgeting
- Experience of internal control
- Experience of process oriented work
Desired Experience
- 5 years experience in a reporting and
administration environment closely involved in financial reporting
- Or 5 years’ experience in the industry in a
finance role
