Role Profile: Chief Accountant
Reporting to: Group Finance Manager
Location: Naivasha
Job Summary: Our client operating in the hospitality industry is
looking for a chief accountant to plan, design and coordinate the
implementation of a sound accounting, financial management and control system
and procedures for a large hotel with different room types – hotel rooms,
villas & chalets.
Tasks:
- Supervise an accounting team to ensure the
accurate and timely reporting of financial information in line with groups
accounting standards and procedures;
- Provide timely and accurate information to the
management company and Board of Directors of Company on financial
performance;
- To initiate plan and control for the process
of business planning forecasting and strategy formulation;
- Provide heads of department and other relevant
managers with appropriate financial information for decision making and
tracking expenditure;
- Provide guidance, monitor and advice to
relevant managers on the effective and efficient use of financial
resources (Company budgets);
- Oversee the Company payroll in line with
government and internal requirements to deliver an accurate and timely
payment of salaries and taxes;
- Provide leadership to financial team and
undertake the necessary activities to support the development and
performance of the team;
- Develop and implement the necessary financial
controls and systems for compliance to external and internal requirements;
- Manage unit’s cash flow to ensure that all are
within the approved parameters. Where this is note ensure approval is
sought before these are incurred.
- Review banking reconciliation’s and daily
banking;
- Ensure all excess funds are reported and
appropriately invested;
- Ensure all statutory deductions are made and
handle tax matters.
Education and Qualifications Required:
- The candidate should hold a degree from a
recognised University, preferably Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting).
- In addition, the candidate should possess
professional Accounting qualification such as Certified Public Accountant
CPA (K) or ACCA.
- A master’s degree in Business Administration
(MBA) would be an added advantage.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Possess at least three years experience in a
similar position and proficient in various computerized accounting
packages.
- Knowledge of Sun Accounting System and Fidelio
Front Office System will be an added advantage.
- The ideal candidate should possess excellent
analytical skills and interpersonal skills. In addition to this the
incumbent should be decisive, evaluative, possess a good sense of
judgment, initiative, resilience and strategic outlook.
