Career Opportunity: Hotel Chief Accountant

Apples Consulting Limited is a consulting practice providing transformational
human resource management services.
Our client,
a four-star hotel located in Nairobi, is looking to hire a Hotel Chief
Accountant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and maintain internal controls relating to hotel properties including the validation of supporting documentation, accuracy of information received, completeness of transactions, maintenance of accounting records, and physical security of assets.
- Prepare monthly financial statements.
- Prepare month-end, quarterly and year-end closing entries.
- Post activities to the general ledger, including monthly accruals.
- Account analysis and reconciliation, to include bank statements, inter-company general ledger accounts and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare of monthly reconciliation's between source records and control accounts.
- Monitor and maintain recording and reporting fixed assets and related depreciation.
- Provide support in budget and forecasting activities.
- Participate in the budgeting, monitoring and follow through of CAPEX approval forms.
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Collaborate with the other Accountants and Department Managers to support overall department goals and objectives.

- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
Requirements
The
position is a very hands-on role, requiring a highly driven individual who will
hit the ground running.
The successful candidate will have:
- Full CPA (K)/ ACCA or equivalent qualifications. A university degree in Accounting/Finance Business or a business related field will be an added advantage.
- At least Four (4) years of practical experience in a busy commercial organization
- Strong business acumen, people management • Stickler for perfection with a great eye for detail.
- Computer literate
- Good communication
- Leadership orientation
Experience
in use of Sun system, Micro Fidelio will be an added advantage.
The successful
candidate will demonstrate the ability to fit into a dynamic and
entrepreneurial organization.

results orientation with a commitment to deliver excellence.
He/she will
demonstrate ability to work under pressure, prioritize work, and meet tight
deadlines.

Remuneration:
A competitive salary will be offered for this position, negotiable dependant on
experience and demonstrable contribution..
