The Authority is seeking to recruit qualified Kenyan citizens to fill the following position:
Director, Aviation Safety & Security Standards Regulation

Department / Section: Directorate of Aviation Safety and Security Standards Regulation

Reports To: Director General
Job Purpose: To plan and control the operations of Aviation Safety and Security Standards and Regulations in accordance with the lawful instructions and policy guidelines governing such services.
Scope of work / duties / responsibilities
§  Ensure proper operation of the Aviation Safety and Security Standards and Regulations directorate.
§  Incorporate appropriate safety and security standards and sound economic principles.
§  Develop and manage the department in accordance with specific aviation safety and security standards and regulations.
§  Advise the Director General and the Board on matters affecting Aviation safety and security legislation and enforcement.
§  Conduct continuous quality and performance surveillance on services provided.
§  Prepare budget estimates and advise the management on manpower requirements.
§  Initiate and participate in manpower development programs.
§  Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the Director General.
Qualifications
§  A Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree from a recognized university
§  Advanced professional qualification in Aircraft Airworthiness including aircraft type courses certificate or Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) with ratings of large commercial aircraft group 1 with not less than 3000 hours flying experience.
§  Served as a flight safety inspector or equivalent position for a period not less than 5 years will be an added advantage.
§  Aircraft maintenance engineers licence in category “A” and “C” or “X” and “R” will be an added advantage.
§  A Masters Degree from a recognized university in Aeronautical or related field will be an added advantage
Experience
§  At least 8 years relevant work experience.
§  At least 3 years minimum experience in a senior position ( Head of Airworthiness or Head of Flight Safety Standards within an aviation Safety Standards and Regulations department or equivalent positions)
Knowledge and skills
§  Knowledge of ICAO standards and recommended practices (SARPs).
§  Proven experience in developing national aviation regulations and procedures.
§  Demonstrate high standards of professional competence and administrative ability for direction, management and control of aviation safety standards and regulations.
§  Proven leadership qualities, integrity, transparency and accountability.
