Community Development Manager
The Community Development Manager
(COM) position is key to the success of Water Mission Kenya Country Program.
The person in this position must be a
devoted Christian with a clear calling from God and a heartfelt passion for our
mission.
Under the direction of the Country
Director, the COM is responsible for leading the community development team
within the Country Program following established standards and procedures.
This position requires that the
person resides in Kitale or near Kitale, where the office is located.
It also involves frequent traveling
to remote locations within Kenya or surrounding countries to carry out
assessments, implementation, follow-up and training.
Key Specific Duties and
Responsibilities
·
Lead and manage all community
development initiatives and teams to ensure that WM Mission is carried out with
passion and excellence to achieve the organization’s vision.
·
Work closely with other project
managers to ensure that the overall organization’s goal is accomplished
·
Develop concept notes and proposals
to be presented to potential donors.
·
Carry out Community Development
activities, including assessments, establishing Safe Water Committees, Health
& Hygiene, Micro-Enterprise activities among others
·
Develop and maintain good
relationship with National and County Government offices.
Minimum Education and Work Experience
·
Bachelor’s degree in Community
Development, social work or related field.
·
Additional qualification in project
management will be an added advantage.
·
6+ years of experience in Community
Development, preferably working with non-profit organization
·
Advanced skills in office computer
programs
·
Fluent in English.
Accounts Assistant
Key Specific Duties and Responsibilities
·
Process necessary payments for goods
and services.
·
Work closely with the procurement
committee to ensure completeness and value for money.
·
Prepare vouchers, cheques, maintain
advance register and record alit transactions accurately.
·
Carry out bank transactions including
but not limited to collecting bank statements, withdraw and deposits and
monthly bank reconciliations.
·
Maintain files for financial records
and ensure that the fixed asset register is up to date.
·
Ensure all accounting entries are in
an accurate and timely manner.
·
Maintain the petty cash register and
perform regular checks and balances.
·
Follow up with financial records and
practices for safe water committees prepaid meters and automated tap
dispensers.
·
Ensure internal controls are being
adhered to such as receipts, requests and completeness of all
Minimum Education and Work Experience
·
Diploma in Business preferably
Finance or Accounting.
·
Professional course in accounting
with a minimum of CPA II.

·
An understanding of and commitment to
the fission of the organization.
·
A clear God given calling to the
mission.
·
Ability to organize personal workload
and achieve results in time.
