Accountant Job in Kenya

Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
·         Have a Bachelors’ degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option), Business Management (Accounting/Finance Option), Economics, or equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
·         Have Master’s degree in the fields above or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution as an added advantage;

·         Have a minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience in the public or private institution
·         Certificate in CPA(K) or its equivalent
·         Be a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or any other recognized professional body in good standing;
·         Certificate in Supervisory Skills not lasting less than two (2) weeks;
·         Have demonstrated professional and administrative competence as reflected in work performance and results;
·         Knowledge in ERP system will be an added advantage;
·         Have proficient in computer application skills:
·         Fulfilll the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:-
Accounts Duties
·         Approving payment vouchers and committal documents in accordance with laid down regulations;
·         Preparing financial reports and analyze income and expenditure against budgets;
·         Preparing monthly bank reconciliation and reconciliation of debtors and creditors ledgers;
·         Ensuring safe custody of financial records, documents, cheque books and assets;
·         Initiating budget proposals and financial plans; and
·         Reviewing petty cash reconciliation and facilitate withdrawal of cash for office use and ensuring safety of the same at all times
Finance Duties
·         Preparing quarterly expenditure forecast
·         Initiating proposals for seeking funds for additional expenditure
·         Monitoring expenditure on projects and programme implementation on a periodic basis
·         Coordinate activities within donor financed projects and monitors the implementation of the projects
·         Coordinate budget preparation
·         analyze budget estimates
·         Analyze programme performance targets
·         Control of budgetary commitments
·         Financial evaluation and processing of major policy changes within the National youth Council
·         Monitoring and review of programmes and implementations and taking corrective measures
