Sanergy is looking for a qualified Market Development Lead for our Farm Star products, including EverGrow organic fertilizer and PureProtein animal feed supplement.

Who we are: Sanergy is an award-winning social venture that builds healthy, prosperous communities by making safe sanitation accessible and affordable in Africa’s urban informal settlements. 

Our systems-based approach to solving the sanitation crisis involves 3 critical steps: we build a dense network of high-quality sanitation facilities — Fresh Life Toilets — franchised to residents in the community. 

We collect the waste regularly and safely remove it from the community. Finally, we convert the waste into valuable agricultural products, which we sell to Kenyan farmers and animal feed millers.

About the role: The Farm Star Sales team enables Sanergy to sell end products derived from treated organic waste. 

The Market Development Lead will develop, test, and commercialize new market segments for the company's organic fertilizer product

A typical day for you might include the following
·                     Conduct market research and identifying a priority  market segments for Evergrow
·                     Visiting a business in the new customer segment to identify and prioritize relevant problems, which can be addressed by Evergrow, while gaining a deep understanding of how they currently solve those problems.
·                     Proposing to the business in the new customer segment an in-field crop trial
·                     Consolidating your learning from the visit by clearly mapping the customer journey and purchasing process, and securing initial sales.
·                     Deciding on several new segments for which you will create a full go-to-market plan including sales strategy, distribution, pricing, collections, marketing, and training for the sales team.
Skills and qualifications you’ll need 
·                     Degree or higher level education 
·                     Previous experience in building a business from scratch or significantly scaling up an existing business
·                     Experience in identifying, testing, and commercializing new market segments for an existing product
·                     Knowledge of agricultural inputs market for small and medium-scale farmers preferred or ability to learn technical knowledge quickly
·                     Track record of managing multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously with minimal oversight and high accountability for results
·                     Aptitude for numbers and data-driven decision-making 
·                     Humility and interest in learning in-depth about a new industry, new product category, new sales process, and everything else that’s needed.
·                     Coachable – a desire to learn, constantly improve, and act on feedback
·                     Willingness to work outside of Nairobi and travel to support the sales team approx. 80% of the time.
·                     Valid car driver’s license and min. 2 years driving experience
·                     Sense of humour

Sanergy is looking for a qualified General Manager - Financial Analysis and Business Improvement to collaborate with our Sales and Production teams to achieve profitability in 18 months

About the role: The Business Success team provides internal consultancy services in the generation and implementation of projects to achieve profitability, and is accountable for all financial modelling, planning, analysis and reporting for Sanergy.

In addition, the Business Success team is responsible for continuous improvement initiatives, particularly around Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE), based on rigorous financial and operational analysis.

A typical day for you might include the following
·                     Create a financial model that can be used to assess the impact of strategic projects on profitability.
·                     Meet with and collaborate closely with departmental teams to compile the budget
·                     Oversee the financial and operational analysis team to conduct monthly variance analysis against budget and operational scorecards. Compile financial statements for presentation to senior leadership and the board. Lead the audit process with external auditors.
·                     Coach leaders of all Sanergy business units to generate, plan and implement revenue increase projects, margin improvement projects and cost reduction projects.
·                     Oversee the QHSE team and coach quality partners to guide business units to achieve process maturity in so far as the quality and safety of people, processes, products and services is concerned.
Skills and qualifications you’ll need 
·                     Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or Business Administration. Advanced degree preferred; MBA a plus.
·                     At least 5 years of experience in a high impact role.
·                     Proven work experience in financial planning, analysis and reporting
·                     Expertise in business process improvement with knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Re-engineering)
·                     Demonstrable experience in business systems development and leading cross-functional teams
·                     Knowledge of statistical analysis and risk assessment techniques

·                     Experience in leading QHSE improvement projects will be an added advantage.

The Head of Sales will lead the development and implementation of scaling sales strategies to grow agricultural products revenues by 20x in 18 months.

A typical day for you might include the following
·                     Refine the Farm Star scaling strategy to exponentially grow sales of the company's agricultural products.
·                     Support Assistant Sales Manager in day-to-day sales operations, including recruitment, training and ongoing support to individual sales reps, ensuring smooth operational support for sales, handling sales ops administration, and managing payment collections, with a view towards continuous improvement of all processes.
·                     Manage the sales budget, including revenue and margin targets.
·                     Lead on developing, testing, and commercializing new market segments for Evergrow organic fertilizer.
·                     Analyze and decision on initiatives to optimize various aspects of sales operations, including customer acquisition, distribution, payment collection, and after-sales service to maximize profitability.
Skills and qualifications you’ll need 
·                     Degree or higher level education
·                     Previous experience in significantly scaling up an existing business
·                     >5 years’ experience in consultative B2B selling
·                     >3 years’ experience in building and managing sales teams, preferably in direct sales, with a clear track record of high performance
·                     Previous experience in building a business from scratch or significantly scaling up an existing business
·                     Aptitude for numbers and data-driven decision-making 
·                     Knowledge of agricultural inputs market for small and medium-scale farmers preferred or ability to learn technical knowledge quickly
