Vacancies: Field Interviewers for a Research Project

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) invites applications for field interviewers for the Tayari Process Evaluation Project. 

Tayari pre-primary school programme is an early childhood development and education (ECDE) intervention which aims to develop a cost-effective, scalable model of ECDE that ensures 3-6 years old children are cognitively, physically, socially and emotionally ready to start, and succeed in primary school. 

It is being implemented by the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) International, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), and evaluated by the APHRC in Nairobi, Siaya, Laikipia and Uasin Gishu Counties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have at least KCSE with a minimum of C+ or its equivalent.
  • Be proficient in basic computer applications.
  • Be a resident of any of the four Counties where the study is being implemented.
  • Be fluent in English, Kiswahili and any local language in the respective county.
  • Be prepared to work full time on the project for the duration of the study.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and facilitation skills.
  • Have proven experience in research work (quantitative and/or qualitative data collection).
  • Previous engagement with APHRC or RTI is an added advantage.
Job Description (responsibilities):
  • Consenting the study participants
  • Conduct quantitative interviews with ECD teachers
  • Moderating KII, IDI and FGDs with the relevant participants
  • Taking good and comprehensive notes from the qualitative interviews assigned
  • Clearly label audios as per agreed standards
  • Write daily work reports and submit to immediate supervisor together with all related study audios
