Lutheran World Federation Department for World Services Kenya / Djibouti program is seeking to recruit Kenyan nationals on a temporary basis for three (3) months for the following positions to be based in Kakuma.
 
Position: Registration Data Clerks 
(127 Positions)

Ref: LWF/HR/08-2016/006
 
The Registration Data Clerk will be responsible for supporting all activities related to registration, which may also include functions related to reception, filing and data management.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct registration interviews in accordance with local standard operating procedures and registration standards.
  • Respond to queries from, asylum seekers and refugees regarding registration procedures and their rights and entitlements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to date records and data related to all individual registration cases.
  • Identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral to protection follow-up as required.
  • Collaborate with protection staff and/or partners in the delivery of assistance and programming, including provision of identity and entitlement documentation.
  • Act as interpreter and translator when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Completion of the Secondary Education with post-secondary training / certificate in Social science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • High level of integrity, commitment and professional responsibility.
  • Ability to tolerate cultural, education and religious diversity in the work place.
  • Good communication, organization and presentation skills

Position: Litigation Assistants 

(15 Positions)

The litigation staff will work with persons of concern and network of partners stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment and provide advice to the protection team during the registration process.


Duties and responsibilities
  • Support the verification team in understand the perspectives, capacities, needs and resources of the persons of concern and advise the protection team accordingly, highlighting the specific protection needs of women and men, children, youth and older persons, persons with disabilities and marginalized groups.
  • Support implementing and operational partners as well as displaced and local communities to develop community-owned activities to address, where applicable, the social, educational, psycho-social, cultural, health, organizational and livelihood concerns as well as child protection and prevention and response to SGBV during the verification exercise.
  • Assist in working with host communities to involve national civil society groups in improving the protection of persons of concern. Assist in the analysis that identifies the capacities of communities of concern and risks they face.
  • Support participatory assessments and ongoing consultation with persons of concern.
  • Support communities in establishing representation and coordination structures.
  • Collect data for monitoring of programmes and budgets.
  • Draft and type routine correspondence, documents and reports using word processing equipment and maintain up-to-date filing systems.
  • Act as interpreter in exchange of routine information, contribute to related liaison activities and respond directly to routine queries.
  • Perform other relevant duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma in International Development, Cultural Studies, Human Rights, International Social Work, Social Science, Political Science, Anthropology, International Law or other clearly related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ previous relevant job experience.
  • Computer skills (MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)

Position: Centre Supervisors 

(3 Positions)

The Centre Supervisor will be responsible for overall coordination during the Verification exercise, and this will include the supervision of staff under the guidance of the UNHCR and Government teams and the LWF Verification Coordinator.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate the verification team in the designated centres to ensure that the exercise run smoothly.
  • Provide overall team leadership to support staff and verification team and ensure that they implement their duties effectively.
  • Supervise the registration interviews in accordance with local standard operating procedures and registration standards.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders including refugee staff, community leaders, community members (host and refugee community) and other stakeholders in order to formulate and collaborate with protection staff and/or partners in the delivery of assistance and programming, including provision of identity and entitlement documentation during the registration exercise.
  • Carry out the verification of collected data.
  • Carry out any other responsibilities/functions deemed necessary by the supervisor in order to meet the required standards during the registration exercise.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Social science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • 3 years relevant working experience preferably in an NGO setting
  • Strong computer skills.
