Communications Officer

The Position:
Reporting to the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, the jobholder is to support program communications with internal and external stakeholders

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute communication and marketing strategies and plans for internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide editorial, strategic, creative and operational support to ensure communication is both influential, informative and builds brand reputation
  • Manage PR and communications agencies and subcontractors
  • Drafting, editing and distributing materials for the press
  • Manage, update website content and maintaining social media activity
  • Assist in the implementation of public affairs activity
  • Compile and circulate electronic news summary and support in writing program reports
  • Plan/create multi-media communication materials
  • Maintain library system for press cuttings, monitor cuttings and report
The Person

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
  • University Degree preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field. Master’s Degree and/or Professional qualifications in related field will be an added advantage.
  • Have at least 3 years’ working experience, which should include:
  • At least 3 years’ experience in communication
  • At least 2 years’ experience in media relations and media coverage.
  • At least 1 years’ experience in online communication and website content management 
  • Computer Literacy
  • Should have good Attention to detail
  • Should have good relationship management skills



Partnerships Manager

The Position:
Reporting to the Head of Project, the jobholder is responsible for effective and continued fundraising to augment emerging gaps in the projects for sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop strategies to expand funding and support from current partnerships and explore successful pitches in the various project sectors and deliver agreed fundraising activities.
  • Maintain an external orientation and a high tempo of external contact with prospective and current partners.
  • Ensure the effective management of relationships between KCB Foundation and partners.
  • Continuously review and develop the relationship management strategy through industry research and understanding of trends.
  • Work with the Head of Project and the Communications Officer to develop partnership management and reporting structures for effective partnership communications & management.
  • Develop and refine reporting to partners that maintains quality relationships.
  • Provide proactive support, information, advice, leadership support and guidance to staff and external partners/providers in relation to fundraising.
  • Manage multiple priorities and work as an effective, willing and contributing member of a small team.
  • Attend and participate in events, conferences, workshops and meetings that are relevant to KCB Foundation’s fundraising strategy.
The Person

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
  • University Degree preferably in Business/ Marketing or any other relevant field. Master’s Degree and/or Professional qualifications in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Have at least 6 years’ experience in fund raising.
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of agricultural chain programs in a team management role.
  • Experience in managing a portfolio in the corporate sector in a business development space.
  • Experience with building and managing strong client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience with program planning management and monitoring
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish new client relationships and generate new business.
  • Should have excellent, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to positively and clearly communicate with a variety of constituents.


Capacity Building Officers

The Position:
Reporting to the Capacity Building Manager, the jobholder is responsible for Farmers’ mobilization, organization and capacity building for financial inclusion aimed at increasing incomes and strengthening their skills knowledge and social capital required to achieve sustainable economic self-sufficiency. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Mobilization and management of farmers groups, producer organizations and farmers cooperatives
  • Capacity building and strengthening of farmers groups, producer organizations and cooperatives for financial inclusion
  • Promotion of sustainable agriculture practices, soil and water conservation measures, diversified cropping, animal husbandry, promotion of micro enterprises and related activities.
  • Conduct trainings and events in the areas related to agribusiness development, sustainable agriculture and micro enterprises
  • Support integration of KCB Commercial agriculture products and services amongst the farmers and within farmer organizations
  • Coordinate with concerned government departments and leverage necessary support for the project.
  • Establish linkage with key stakeholders and farmers’ institutions at various levels
  • Timely project documentation and reporting
The Person
For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
  • University Degree preferably in Agriculture economics, Agribusiness, Development. Professional qualifications in Training, Capacity Building will be an added advantage.
  • Have at least 4 years’ experience working in agricultural value chains strengthening and development
  • Have at least 2 years’ experience working in training and capacity building activities.
  • A thorough knowledge of Retail Banking products and services, and extensive Banking Industry knowledge.
  • Excellent high quality interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to network and develop strong business relations
  • Excellent communication skills, with a track record of delivering client pitches as well as writing and preparing presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish new client relationships and generate new business.
  • Should have excellent, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to positively and clearly communicate with a variety of constituents.
  • Excellent planning, problem solving, strong analytical skills and a high attention to detail.


Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

The Position:
Reporting to the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, the jobholder is to provide technical support in the planning and implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and evaluate overall progress on achievement of results.
  • Develop and strengthen monitoring, inspection and evaluation procedures.
  • Monitor all project activities, expenditures and progress towards achieving the project output.
  • Monitor and recommend further improvement of the logical framework and sustainability of the project's results.
  • Provide feedback to the Knowledge management; M&E Manager on project strategies and activities.
  • Develop Monitoring and impact indicators/MIS for the project success
  • Support in the development of monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual progress reports on all project activities.
  • Conduct capacity assessment on existing monitoring and evaluation system and training of project personnel
  • Participate in annual project reviews and planning workshops and assist the Knowledge Management; M&E Manager in preparing relevant reports.
The Person

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
  • University Degree preferably in Administration, Information Management, Project Management, Social Sciences, Finance. Master’s Degree and/or Professional qualifications in Monitoring & Evaluation will be an added advantage.
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience in Monitoring & Evaluation.
  • Have at least 2 years’ experience working in training and capacity building activities.
  • Good management skills including organizational, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated high integrity.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite


Project Accountant

The Position:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the jobholder is to Support financial planning, management and reporting

Key Responsibilities
  • Create project accounts in the accounting system and report on project assets, expenses and surpluses
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
  • Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts based on approvals
  • Review and approve supplier invoices related to the project and all project-related billings to customers
  • Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to the Finance and Administration Manager.
  • Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers
  • Close out project accounts upon project completion
  • Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to projects
  • Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required.
The Person

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
  • University Degree in a business related field from a recognized university. A Masters in any relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Fully qualified Accountant (CPA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a busy environment, which should be in Financial and Management reporting.
  • Sound knowledge of the financial industry, accounting principles and regulatory guidelines.
  • Excellent planning, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience in office automation tools.


Finance Manager 

The Position:
Reporting to the Head of Project, the jobholder is responsible for financial planning, management and reporting

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial, project and grant accounting.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external and internal auditors and the finance division.
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning processes in conjunction with the Head of project; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
  • Manage cash flow, forecasting and reconciliation.
  • Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/ reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual
  • Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to management
