The Cost Engineer will lead the overall vehicle cost management process for a new vehicle that will form the basis of our main product offering into the African market – a truly unique opportunity to create impact on a global scale.
Specific duties include, but are not
limited to:
Cost Engineering
- Develop cost estimates and projections for
multiple vehicle commodities on Exterior and Interior; including Power
Train, Chassis and Electrical. Utilise information ranging from written
assumptions, sample parts, CAD models and engineering drawings.
- Maintain feasibility of engineering approach
for low volume production tooling and limited in-country resources. For
example, steel stamping presses will not be available at initial
production. Utilise in-country equipment and materials and adapt approach
to the low-tech resources available.
- Gather details and compile data to estimate
all production costs considering raw materials, labour, equipment,
tooling, for estimations.
- Maintain all tooling and product cost
information to assure the timely availability of data required for
decision-making and to ensure conformity with budget directives.
- Liaise with manufacturing plants and suppliers
to assure most economical tooling, processing and operations that will
contribute to profitable production.
- Undertake competitive vehicle benchmarking to
provide input for future model development.
- Perform Value Add / Value Engineering.
Generate cost reduction ideas through identification of process/product
efficiencies that will reduce overall costs. Work with all stakeholders to
achieve cost reduction targets.
- Support Supply Chain Associate in specific
sourcing work involving critical costs and engineering considerations;
including analysis and trade-offs of functionality versus cost.
- Lead and facilitate cost review sessions.
Report risks and opportunities of cost status on a weekly basis.
- Take ownership of projects; plan milestones,
timelines, budgets, resources and identify potential risks to deliver
engineering aspects within agreed completion dates.

The team will include CAD Packaging

Vehicle Build & Validation Engineer

The Vehicle Build & Validation Engineer will be responsible for managing the overall vehicle build and validation program.
This involves ensuring the required
mule and prototype test validation units are built to required configurations
and then tracking the validation of the vehicle, individual systems and
components to ensure a successful overall validation program.
They will work with the Workshop Supervisor to ensure the vehicle builds are carried out as required and work closely with the test engineering resources to ensure successful execution of the validation test plan.

program requirements. Subsequently work with the BOM engineer to manage
and track the vehicle BOM configuration.
- Based on program timing targets, effectively
plan and manage the physical build of mule and prototype vehicles as per
required configurations & budget. Provide the vehicle build plan to
the workshop supervisor to support the vehicle builds.
- Plan & track the individual system and
component validation activities managing vehicle installation, timeframe
and sign-off status for each after completion of test activity.
- Coordinate with the workshop supervisor to
ensure the availability of mule & prototype vehicles to carry out
mandated verification & validation tests as per the vehicle
validation.
- Put together clear documentation on the
overall vehicle design and build configuration with the support of the
vehicle system engineers including detailed build instructions, CAD DMU
models & drawings.
- Manage the timely and periodic publication of
vehicle status summaries to the engineering & management team for
detailed review and analysis.

arising from validation vehicles.

- To ensure workshop staff wear protective
clothing (PPEs) at all times while in the workshop floor including all
non-workshop/technical staff.
- Organise all customer rescue missions ensuring
all resources and authorisation required is acquired within the shortest
time possible.
- Ensure properly documented repair orders with
clear instructions are opened for every repair/service/rescue job to be
undertaken by the workshop staff and that all required information on each
job card is properly maintained.
- To ensure that all vehicles are serviced in
accordance with the company’s service standards and that pro-active
planned maintenance is carried out continuously.
- Ensure vehicles are mechanically sound and
available for test days and investor visits.
- To act as a technical expert in the Workshop,
advising staff on tasks and sharing knowledge, for example through regular
toolbox talks.
- To instil and maintain a strong health and
safety culture amongst the Workshop team with a good understanding of risk
assessments.
- To ensure that the workshop housekeeping and
operating practices are of a high standard and that special tools and
equipment are well maintained.
- Generate ad-hoc reports as required by the
Technical and Commercial teams.
- Develop Service Level Agreements (SLA) with
internal customers like Engineering, Quality and After-Sales.

We are seeking a long-term commitment from an experienced vehicle test professional to support the engineering development team to carry out the required vehicle verification & validation activities (V&V) during the vehicle development program.
You will be responsible for ensuring
the verification and validation activities are defined, executed, monitored and
reported on.
The role will require a close working
relationship with the Senior Vehicle Test Engineer, Vehicle Build &
Validation Engineer and the Vehicle System Design Engineers.
Specific duties include, but are not
limited to:
- Work with respective vehicle system engineers
to plan, develop and conduct functional tests covering overall vehicle
components.
- Ensure V&V activities are executed in
alignment with the vehicle program timeline and quality goals.
- Analyse requirements specifications including
any regulatory requirements and with the respective system engineers
develop the applicable test plans.
- Work with system engineers, R&D workshop
to create and monitor overall vehicle test design and verification test
plan and ensure execution to program timeline.
- Support design and coordinate the building of
any required off-vehicle test rigs for verification test work.
- Ensure proper set up of test data equipment on
vehicles for data logging and analysis.
- Ensure comprehensive reporting of vehicle
testing issues to respective engineering system and Product Quality
Engineers.
- Work with respective System Engineers to
support the analysis and interpretation of the test data results from the
verification and validation test work by collating and preparing technical
test reports for use by the engineering and management team.
- Support the development of appropriate End of
Line (E.O.L) specification for use by various suppliers to ensure the

retrieval of all test reports, data and results.
