Position: Security Officer

Overall Purpose of the Role
 

Development and implementation of comprehensive and cost effective security system to ensure maximum protection of the company’s assets, employees and customers
 
Responsibilities
  • Advising the management on the security requirements for the company and developing sound security policies and procedures
  • Directing and controlling operations within and around the company premises
  • Working closely with the out-sourced security service provider to ensure effective security for the company, effective management of their contract service level agreements and other administrative matters
  • Managing any internal investigations and acting as liaison officer with all other interested parties both internal and external, including the police, regulators and auditors
  • Identifying security risks and evaluating alternative ways of addressing them
  • Improving security surveillance, detection and prevention of crime in liaison with the police and other security agencies
  • Ensuring effective deployment and utilization of guards and security equipment
  • Coordinating with appropriate law enforcement agencies to identify and facilitate investigative actions
  • Evaluating new technology based security solutions
  • Preparing and managing security budgets
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of all investigations findings and action plan
  • Gather security information (security intelligence) for quick decision making
  • Proactively advise management on all security matters within the company with an aim of preventing or detecting crime
  • Install & maintain the necessary security systems aimed at avoiding thefts, pilferage and sabotage
  • View cameras installed across all branches and report any issues noted for management action
  • Preparation of security reports for management decision making
  • Liaison with law enforcement agencies and sensitization of company staff and management general security/insecurity trends, personal/residential security awareness
  • Liaison with government departments, law enforcement and other external agents and safety departments on security matters i.e. government security and safety departments, provincial administration, fire brigade etc
  • Establish and implement strategies to prevent unauthorized entry of persons, cars and goods to restricted areas by carrying out security checks
  • Conduct security awareness briefs to all company staff
  • Plan and carry out security training for security personnel
  • Identify and manage activities of the fire team (Fire Marshalls). Coordinate fire fighting drills & other activities and ensure that adequate measures are taken to prevent fire risks
  • Responsible of security gadgets i.e. access controls, VHF radios, occurrence books etc
  • Ensure all company vehicles meet all the traffic regulations and requirements
  • Vehicle tracking to ensure that the company drivers follow the correct designated routes and report any anomalies noted for management action
  • Any other duty as assigned by management
Education & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree preferably in Criminology or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Must have been in disciplined forces having attained the rank of Chief Inspector of Police or Major, Proven track record of fraud investigations.
  • valid certificate of good conduct
  • Minimum 5 years security management in a large corporate organization with multiple facilities and branches/divisions/sites, or experience in a large security firm
  • Should be aged between 30 – 45 years of age
  • valid driving license
  • knowledge of Kenyan laws and government regulations pertaining to law enforcement
  • good networking with external security agencies
  • computer literacy
