Safety Officer and Deputy Transport Manager Jobs in Kenya

Safety Officer

  • The job holder will be responsible for keeping employees free of danger, risk or injury in the workplace by planning, implementing and coordinating the company’s safety and health programs to prevent workplace injury, remove hazards and correct unsafe environmental working conditions.
  • He/she will also be responsible for promoting workplace safety by identifying and monitoring potential hazards to employees and company property as well as increasing safety and health awareness among employees.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelors’ degree in safety or industrial engineering.
  • Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • At least 5 years of experience in coordinating safety and loss prevention activities in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to investigate and evaluate complex safety problems and issues.
  • Ability to investigate and evaluate work place accidents, work hazards and provide leadership in prevention measures.
  • Ability to provide leadership in fire fighting and management, including training.
  • Ability to provide develop and delivery occupational safety and health training, awareness and to generate safety and accident reports in a timely manner.
Deputy Transport Manager
  • The Job holder will be responsible for working with drivers to prevent/reduce accidents and enhance safe driving behavior, monitoring and evaluating fuel consumption of tractors and vehicles on daily basis, formulating and implementing fuel management and control systems and measures aimed at effective and efficient use of fuel, compile and submit management reports relating to transport activities in a timely manner.
  • He/she will also manage disciplinary and grievances relating to drivers and other transport department employees monitor the performance of field staff to meet daily performance targets, ensure that tractor keys and vehicles are surrendered at the closure of business and that claims arising from third party property damage are processed and paid promptly.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelors’ degree in Engineering or Transport and Logistics Management.
  • Post graduate Diploma in Transport and Logistics Management.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the management of transport fleets.
  • Strongly analytical and diagnostic skills, with ability to work long hours, including during holidays and on weekends.
  • Must be self driven, able to work under pressure and to take initiative.
  • Experience in sugar cane transport operations will be added advantage.
