Background
Kenya Airports Authority is a State Corporation established under the KAA ACT (Cap 395) whose mandate is to construct, operate and maintain aerodromes, as well as provide such other amenities and facilities for passengers and other persons making use of the services or other facilities so provided within Kenya.
Position
KAA is looking to recruit a General Manager Security and Safetywhose overall purpose is to provide strategic leadership and guidance in the implementation of Aviation Safety and Security standards and recommended practices.
The jobholder will oversee Fire and Rescue Operations, Ground Flight Safety Operations and contingency planning in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) requirements and national regulations.
The jobholder will foster positive relations with relevant regulatory bodies
(KCAA) and other national and international security agencies and service

Main responsibilities
Reporting to the Managing Director, the key responsibilities include:
- Ensures
implementation of International as well as the National Civil Aviation
Safety and Security programmes
- Ensures that
each airport develops and implements an Aerodrome Manual, Safety
Management Systems and Contingency Plans
- Ensures the
development and implementation of safety and security training and
awareness programmes for staff and stakeholders
- Ensures
development and implementation of access control and identification
systems
- Ensures
provision of safety and security equipment and facilities that meet appropriate
standards
- Ensures that a
system of risk assessment and quality control is developed, implemented
and updated in all airports to ensure continuous effectiveness
- Ensures that
safety and security audits, inspections, threat assessments, tests and
investigations are undertaken and necessary action taken
- Ensures that
airport security facilitation and safety committees are established and
well coordinated
- Provides leadership
to the safety and security team in terms of operations and intelligence
gathering
Qualification and Experience
Applications are invited from candidates serving in the security agencies above the rank of Deputy Commissioner (Police), Colonel (Armed Forces) or Senior Managers responsible for security in a large organization
Masters Degree from a recognized University OR University Degree and Post Graduate Diploma in management and security related courses
Minimum of twenty (20) years experience ten (10) of which one must have served at a senior level with solid experience in security investigations, operations or intelligence services.
Computer literacy
Knowledge of a Quality Management System (QMS) will be an added advantage
