Job Title: Forensic Investigator

Job Location: CFC House, Nairobi

Department:Internal Audit

Key Objective of the Job

To minimize risk through prevention, detection and investigation, and enforcement of Insurance Policies and Procedures.

The resource will provide support service to CFC Life, Heritage Kenya and Tanzania, Stanbic Investment Management Services and Liberty Life Assurance Uganda

Job Summary - List the Key Tasks in the Job
  • Engage with and build relationships with Regulators, CID, CBK Banking Fraud Investigations Department, KRA and other forensic investigators in the industry
  • Provide input to forensic team/ the group internal auditors for accomplishment of Internal Audit objectives
  • Advise management on methods and techniques of loss prevention
  • Investigate all fraud incidents in a professional and cost effective manner.
  • Analyze findings, control weaknesses and present appropriate recommendations
  • Identify suspects responsible for causing loss and recommend appropriate action
  • Assist Business Units with prosecution of fraud suspects and recovery of lost revenue
  • Liaise and engage with law enforcement agencies and Regulators across borders to facilitate criminal and civil proceedings
  • Create staff awareness of the company policies on fraud and loss prevention
  • Share Lessons Learnt across all entities
Academic and professional qualification
  • Bachelor degree in related field
  • Academic qualifications in legal and/or investigative field an advantage
Professional Qualifications
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CEE) accreditation
  • Any Insurance, Legal or related qualification will be of added advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum of 4 year’s experience in forensic Investigations in Insurance or financial industry
  • Strong forensic investigative experience
  • Experience and knowledge of loss prevention techniques and ope rating systems
  • Experience in the auditing, forensic auditing or operational loss control fields with a flair for legal work, is an advantage.
  • The incumbent needs to be fully conscious of all types of criminal activity, which poses a threat to the group companies and understands the want for education in the prevention of loss.
  • He / she must have the ability to develop and complement training action where the need arises
  • Experience in conflict resolution
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of civil and/or criminal procedures in the Courts of Law
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment in the East Africa Region
  • An understanding and appreciation of Industrial Relations and Kenya Labour Laws
  • Sound knowledge of commercial practices, Insurance systems and administrative policies
  • Good practical knowledge of insurance and the continued changes arising from new enactments and judicial decisions is a prerequisite
  • Ms Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent knowledge of analytical software ACL
