Background
Malaria Consortium is a British registered charity (www.malariaconsortium.org) specialising in communicable disease control programmes.  In Southern Sudan MC provides support to the Ministry of Health (MoH) of the Government of South Sudan (GoSS).
This includes high level technical support for the development of policies, guidelines, and strategies.  It also includes capacity building work to strengthen quality of care of government staff in health facilities.  In the past year we have also begun implementation of community based programmes focussing on controlling key childhood illnesses.
Our current programmes are focussed on control of Malaria, Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), pneumonia and diarrhoea.  All our programmes have elements of health systems strengthening (HSS) which is supported by a programme specifically addressing health systems strengthening.  We also intend to start programmes in TB control, diarrhoeal diseases, and respiratory tract infections.
Description of the role:
The driver is responsible for driving Malaria Consortium’s vehicles in order to transport the organisation’s staff and assets in a safe manner and in accordance with the local and international traffic rules and following the organisation’s internal transport procedures. The driver will conduct daily routine check-up of the vehicle and will ensure the vehicle is in good working condition at all time.
Key Competencies
Essential
·         Valid national driving license
·         Previous professional driving experience with NGOs (with evidence and referee’s contact details)
·         Excellent driving record and skills
·         Familiar with the operation of VHF & HF radios
·         Sudanese National
Desirable
·         Physically fit and strong
·         Good interpersonal and team working skills
·         Demonstrate effective organizational skills and ability to handle work in an efficient and timely manner
·         Able to work with others as a team player
Supervision: This position reports to the Logistics Officer – Transport
Duty station: This position will be based in Juba
