Administrative Assistant

We are a school based in Nairobi offering Kindergarten and Primary education. We teach the Montessori Curriculum and a Primary School curriculum based on Christian values. We also run a college that offers Early Childhood Education. We are recruiting an administrator.

Job Summary

Reporting to the School Principal, the Administrator will manage all the activities that facilitate the smooth running of the school. This will include managing all support functions, overseeing outsourced functions, as well as all administrative systems and activities. The administrator will also promote all quality standards ensuring that they are known and adhered to.

Specific Duties

  • Ensure excellent Customer service in the organisation
  • Supervise direct reports
  • Oversee support and outsourced functions
  • Ensure proper documentation

  • Prepare reports and statistics
  • Manage budgets and ensure financial systems are followed
  • Ensure the annual calender of events is prepared and followed
  • Oversee supplies management - sourcing and control
  • Quality assurance in line with ISO 9001:2008 quality system

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or equivalent. A Masters Degree will be an added advantage

Experience: At least five years in a similar position preferably in a school environment

Required knowledge, skills and ability:
  1. A good understanding of the education sector in the country
  2. A good grasp of early childhood
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  4. Administrative and organisation skills
  5. Leadership and management skills
  6. Understanding of procurement and supplies management
  7. Customer service skills
  8. Monitoring and evaluation skills
  9. Good understanding of ISO 9001:2008 quality management requirements will be an added advantage
