Snr Teacher Job in Kenya

Title: Snr Teacher (Quality Assurance and discipline master),

Reports to: Directors of the Institute,

Responsible for direction and coordination of all institutional activities and oversight of overall development to achieve academic and professional excellence in line with the approved growth plan.

Key Responsibilities

Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise teaching and non-teaching staff activities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide oversight for day-to-day staffing-related decisions, discipline and performance.
  • Oversee physical development of the institution in line with the strategic plan.
  • Ensure prudent use of institutional finances as per approved budgets. 
  • Provide input into the development and implementation of the institute’s strategic plan.
  • Act as the key link between the institute and the government as well as other key stakeholders.
  • Chair and oversee the institute’s management meetings as well as represent the institute in other forums as may be required.
  • Evaluate the performance of all staff in the institution on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that the institute is compliant with all prevailing statutory, regulatory, licensing and accreditation requirements.
  • Responsible for review of management reports as well as submission for director review and decision-making.

Operational Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Ensure smooth and effective execution of all training activities in terms of staff and student attendance.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are observed at all times (including MoH protocols). 

  • Ensure there is proper and effective operation of financial planning and management controls on a day-to-day basis.
  • Promote and facilitate the innovation and enhancement of the curriculum to ensure it delivers a market-leading range of education and training opportunities.
  • Responsible for ensuring all expected fees from students are paid on time.
  • Ensure day-to-day monitoring of the CCTV.
  • Enhance and maintain awareness and understanding of relevant legislation and changes in the education sector and the potential implications for the institute.
  • Compile reports for management consideration as well as provide oversight for other day-to-day work reports.

Job Dimensions:

Financial Responsibility

  • Responsible for institutional budget preparation.
  • Responsible for approval of salaries and overall institutional wage bill.
  • Responsible for initiation and overall supervision of any infrastructure developments at the institute.

Responsibility for Physical Assets

  • Responsible for the institution’s land, buildings and other physical structures.
  • Responsible for office working tools provided e.g. office furniture, computer, printer, stationery, CCTV monitors etc. 
  • Responsible for the institution’s vehicles, plant equipment, machines, generators, kitchen equipment, farm equipment e.t.c.

Decision Making/Job Influence

  • Strategic decisions – for both short term and long-term planning; in collaboration with the directors
  • Managerial decisions – on day-to-day planning and use of resources
  • Operational decisions – for day-to-day staff work performance

Key Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an institution recognized in Kenya.
  • Must be a trained teacher. 
  • Must have served in management position for more than three years and is passionate about technical skills
  • Compliance with the MoE requirements for Principal position.
  • Must have served as a dean of students or something in relation
