Systems Administrator

We are pleased to announce the following vacancy within Digital IT department in the Technology Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Reporting to the Manager – Infrastructure and Cloud Planning, the position holder will be responsible for system planning, deployment, monitoring and administration of Safaricom Linux, Windows, VMware, RHEV, Open stack and storage systems.  This includes general system administration tasks, software and hardware installations, system configuration, backups, system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, skills transfer, internal customer management, configuration management and documentation.

Responsibilities

·         Administering, configuring and troubleshooting servers based on Linux, Windows, VMware, RHEV, Openstack.

·         Analysis of server hardware and operating system software, enterprise storage systems based on IBM, EMC, HP and Cisco and Brocade SAN fabric. This will also include implementation of tactical service improvements, upgrades and system patching;

·         Liaise with internal users, hardware and software vendors and internal systems owners to fine tune systems hardware and software for all systems;

·         Operations of backup tools and testing of disk and data recovery;

·         Provide solutions on all business systems. Prompt restoration of lost data for the business;

·         Hardware and software assurance;

·         SLA and OLA management and adherence for incident management and request fulfilment processes.

·         Capacity planning for servers, storage and related component to ensure business needs are met within agreed OLAs.

·         Participation in feasibility studies and testing for new IT infrastructure components;

Qualifications

·         BS Degree in computer science or engineering;

·         3+ years’ experience in infrastructure support in an environment with mixed Windows, Linux and UNIX server environment.

·         Certification in vMware (VCP) and Redhat (RHCE), AIX and SAN Storage environments.

·         Experience with Configuration Management E.g. Chef, Ansible.

·         Good working knowledge of high availability environments with clustering and distributed storage technologies.

·         Good understanding of System Administration Techniques – e.g. OS Performance, Windows, Virtualization, Linux enterprise, server hardware and storage.

·         Strong oral, written, interpersonal communication and leadership skills

IT Projects Officer

Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager- Business Engagement (Financial Services, Customer Experience, & IT) the position holder will be responsible for planning, tracking and reporting on IT resources, projects and performance.

Responsibilities

·         Develop and maintain the resource management plan by identifying resource requirements and obtaining commitments from internal, external, and procured sources to complete all project activities.

·         Maintain project time estimates in order to determine and define project baseline, schedule.

·         Develop a formal and comprehensive resourcing dashboard showing project progress against resource utilization.

·         Manage project progress by obtaining data from various sources as project managers, business units, project data repositories, and delivery & engagement managers.

·         Onboarding and release of project resources by following appropriate organizational procedures in order to optimize resource utilization.

·         Collaborate with the project teams and management to report on projects, performance and resources utilization with periodic reports

·         Manage any relevant team and departmental reporting requirements on operations, planning and products delivery.

Qualifications

The role requires deployment of Artificial Intelligence driven by Safaricom’s data to create Machine learning models and solutions to deliver specific business relevant use cases. Safaricom is investing heavily in big data and this will be a truly exciting role in view of the organizations unique data set and position in this region.

Dealer Manager

Responsibilities

·         Deliver airtime sales revenue targets (or any other product assigned to the dealers through assign Dealer.

·         Develop, train & motivate Assigned dealers to enhance effective distribution practices in the market

·         Ensure compliance of dealer operating standards and contracts.

·         Drive Channel Development through effective growth plans for both product sales and Distribution resources (Dealer Outlets/ Motorbikes and DSAs).

·         Manage Safaricom Relationship with the assigned dealers to ensure optimum channel Support, productivity and long term sustainability.

·         Ensure highest level of integrity especially in dealing with dealers through reinforcing high ethical and compliance standards in the sales and distribution process

Principal Officer - Category Sourcing

Responsibilities

·         Provide support in Category sourcing strategy development, supply base rationalization and implementation.

·         Perform / support contract analysis and risk evaluation; Cost reduction; build-up, discovery, Total cost of ownership, design to cost, and pricing analysis, target price evaluation/negotiation.

·         Negotiate and facilitate implementation of long term agreements and / or partnerships within Category.

·         Maintain knowledge database of supplier’s markets, sub-categories, capabilities, technology, cost analysis and key performance indicators.

·         Develop and fully implement long term supply agreements for key strategic high value items and services within Category.

·         Achieve 100% CIPS Certification within set timeline.

Qualifications

·         Degree in Technology, Engineering, Business or similar qualification

·         At least 5 years’ experience in network support, planning, optimization and support with experience in 2,3 and 4G technologies. Willingness to quickly learn sourcing strategy development, tender documentation and tendering process, tender analysis and procurement performance management, while leveraging ERP capabilities for procurement-related functions and processes.

·         Diploma in CIPS alongside above qualification will be added advantage.

The platform will be used to continuously deliver on Safaricom’s overall data analytics strategy. Responsibilities

·         Design, architect and build solutions and tools for the big data platform

·         Mediate and coordinate resolution of software project deliverables using agile methodology

·         Develop pipelines to ingest data into the big data platform based on business demands and use cases

·         Develop analytical platforms that will be used to avail data to end users for exploration, advanced analytics and visualizations for day to day business reporting

·         Provide guidance and advise to technology teams on the best use of latest technologies and designs to deliver a best in class platform in the most cost effective way

·         Develop automated monitoring solutions to be handed over to support teams to run and operate the platform efficiently

·         Automate and productionize data science models on the big data engineering platform

Qualifications

·         BS or MS in computer science or equivalent practical experience
