Clinical Officer – Ophthalmology

Lions Club Eye Hospital is a charitable organization that is owned and managed by the Lions Club of Mombasa Pwani. We are seeking to recruit professionals for the following vacant positions:

Roles 

·         Provision of Ophthalmology consultation for patients in the Charitable Out-Patient Department of the Lions Medical Centre

·         Counseling of the patients about eye diseases and treatment options
·         Evaluation of vision and refractive status of the patients where needed
·         To perform cataract surgeries, preferably small incision technique and other minor surgical procedures
·         Attend the Outreach Programme taking up overall responsibility of the Camp-site held during the weekends
·         Active participation in the CME programs being held at the hospital
·         Carry out other relevant duties as may be assigned by the Administrator

Qualification

·         Higher Diploma in Ophthalmology from KMTC or any other reputable institution
·         Registered with the Clinical Officer’s Council- Kenya
·         Valid Clinical Officer’s practicing license
·         At least Two years’ work experience in a busy Ophthalmic unit
·         Computer Literate
·         Team Player and Cultural sensitivity

Dental Surgeon
Lions Club Eye Hospital is a charitable organization that is owned and managed by the Lions Club of Mombasa Pwani. We are seeking to recruit professionals for the following vacant positions:
 Roles
Job Summary:
·         Examine patients teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic equipment, to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities
·         Able to work in a busy environment and conduct all basic dental procedures like scaling, extraction, filling, basic root canal treatment, basic crown treatment and competent with paediatric cases as well.
·         Formulate plan of treatment for patient’s teeth and mouth tissue.
·         Advise and instruct patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, and oral health care services.
·         Prescribe medications as necessary.
·         Carefully document all medications, diagnoses, treatments and consultations
·         Maintaining patients’ dental records.

Qualification

·         At least 2 (two) years’ experience in a busy dental Out-Patient clinic
·         Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentist Board
·         Valid retention certificate for 2018
·         Desire to continuously improve the quality of dental care provided by the department.
·         Have capacity to multitask within strict timeliness
·         Good public relations and communication skills.

General Medical Practitioner
 Lions Club Eye Hospital is a charitable organization that is owned and managed by the Lions Club of Mombasa Pwani. We are seeking to recruit professionals for the following vacant positions:
 Roles
·         Handle day-to-day theatre work with the surgeon
·         Familiar with the necessary theatre equipment & pre-operative preparation i.e.
·         Ensuring that the surgeon has the right instruments or tools at the right time
·         Monitor the sterility and safety of the surgical field, and keep a general watch over patients.
·         Receive and hand over patients by preparing accurate, detailed and timely reports.

Qualification

·         Higher diploma in Ophthalmic nursing from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
·         Registration certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya – Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya.

·         At least two years’ experience in a busy Ophthalmic Clinic

Diabetic Counselor
Lions Club Eye Hospital is a charitable organization that is owned and managed by the Lions Club of Mombasa Pwani. We are seeking to recruit professionals for the following vacant positions:
 Roles
·         Extensive knowledge in diabetic management
·         Knowledgeable in pre-diabetes and diabetic prevention
·         Handling patient education & the diabetic screening program
·         Ensure patients understand self-care and advice on dietary issues

Qualification

·         A Certified Diabetic Educator is a strong advantage
·         At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role

Diabetic Nurse
 Lions Club Eye Hospital is a charitable organization that is owned and managed by the Lions Club of Mombasa Pwani. We are seeking to recruit professionals for the following vacant positions:

 Roles

·         Identify patient care requirements
·         Establish a compassionate environment by providing support to patients
·         Providing appropriate health care services including but not limited to; blood sugar checks & Insulin injection administration
·         Aiding in teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills
·         Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
·         Document patient care services by charting
·         Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualification

·         Degree/Diploma in Nursing.
·         At least 2 years’ Nursing clinical experience in a similar position
·         Registration certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
·         Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya
·         Excellent communication
·         Interpersonal and attention to detail.

Laboratory Technician
Lions Club Eye Hospital is a charitable organization that is owned and managed by the Lions Club of Mombasa Pwani. We are seeking to recruit professionals for the following vacant positions:

Roles

·         Preparing clients for collection of specimens; receiving, collecting ,labeling and registering of specimens
·         Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens;
·         Disaggregating specimens for processing and analyses; preparing reagents
·         Examining specimen; writing and recording of results
·         Dispatching the results for use in clinical management; performing blood grouping;
·         Familiar with appropriate staining for specific specimen
·         Issuing blood and blood products to peripheral health facilities; and
·         Storing blood products according to their requirements
·         Familiar with waste disposal.

Qualification

·         At least two years’ experience in a busy lab set-up
·         Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory and Technologists Board.
·         Registration Certificate Issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)
·         Valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
