National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) is a State Corporation established under the Industrial Training (Amendment) Act of 2011. The mandate of the Authority is to promote the highest standards in the quality and efficiency of industrial training in Kenya and ensure an adequate supply of properly trained manpower at all levels in the industry.
The Authority wishes to recruit results oriented Kenyan citizens with drive, vision and creativity to fill various positions at its Headquarters based in Nairobi and other centers to ensure delivery of its mandate.
Applications are hereby invited from suitability qualified persons to fill the following vacancies in the Authority:-
Directorate of Finance and Levy Administration
Chief Accountant
(Grade 11)
HRA/DFLA/01/2017

Reporting to the Director Finance and Levy Administration, the job holder will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of sound financial management and control systems in the Authority while ensuring compliance with the International Financial Rules and Regulation.
The job holder will also be responsible for:
a) Managing, updating and reviewing subsidiary ledgers and reconciling them to the general ledger;
b) Ensuring supplier and customer accounts are reconciled on monthly basis;
c) Ensuring proper Management of cash through implementation of controls;
d) Reviewing bank reconciliations on weekly basis;
e) Ensuring tax compliance in all operations;
f) Preparing annual statutory accounts and manage statutory audits as well as implement the agreed upon internal audit recommendations;
g) Analyzing customer credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risks involved;
h) Maintaining book of debtors, debt accounts and monitor payments and update records and periodically reconcile their accounts;
i) Reviewing individual or commercial customer files to identify and select delinquent accounts for collection and advising Management on creditors that need to be written off as bad debts and or deal with liquidators and collection agencies;
j) Evaluating customer records and recommend payment plans based on earnings, savings data, payment history and purchase activity
The successful candidate must:
a) Have a Master’s degree in either MBA-Finance or Accounting option, MSc. Finance or Accounting option or any other related field from a recognized institution;
b) Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, or Business Management specializing in Finance or Accounting or any other related field from a recognized institution;
c) Have attained full accounting qualifications (CPA (final),ACCA) or equivalent qualification;
d) Have at least seven (7) years’ relevant work experience;
e) Have attended a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution;
f) Have attended a Senior Financial Management course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution;
g) Be proficient in Financial management based computer application skills;
h) Be a registered member of ICPAK in good standing;
i) Have demonstrated a high degree in work ethics and competencies.
j) Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity


Directorate of Finance and Levy Administration
Accountant II
(Grade 8)

Reporting to Senior Accountant, the job holder will be responsible for:
a) Day-to-day operation in the accounting unit;
b) Dealing with all accounting procedures and routine matters effectively;
c) Performing basic range of Management accounting
d) Assisting in preparation of final accounts and statements;
e) Collecting and compiling data for budgeting purposes;
f) General supervision of accounts staff including their training and development.
The successful candidate must:
a. Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, or Business Management specializing in Finance or Accounting or any other related field from a recognized institution;

Industrial Training Officer III
(Grade 7)

Reporting to the Senior Industrial training Officer, the job holder will be responsible for:
a) Establishing capacity for employers to train the apprentice/indentured learner
b) Developing of training plans
c) Implementing of the training plans
d) Preparing of assessment tools and materials
e) Setting and marking of examinations, guiding and assessing trainees in their course work;
f) Ensuring maintenance of proper records of apprentice/indentured learners attacheesand interns
g) Supervising apprentice/indentured learners both In-Centre and In-Plant training (in industry)
h) Carrying out inspections if gazetted as inspectors
i) Sensitizing employers on NITA functions
j) Preparing and organizing of training materials;
k) Preparing work plans and budgets;
l) Maintaining training equipment in desired conditions;
m) Researching and advising Industry on training matters.
The successful candidate must:
a) Be a holder of Diploma in mechanical, electrical/electronics, computer science, information communication technology, automotive, building and construction, refrigeration and air conditioning, P.V. solar installation, textile, fashion & design from a recognized institution;
b) Be in possession of a relevant competence certificate;
c) Be in possession of instructor’s training course of not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution;
d) Have experience of not less than two (2) years in the industry;

Chief Human Resource Officer

Reporting to the Director Human Resource and Administration the job holder will be responsible for Coordination of operations of the Human Resource Function.
The job holder will also be responsible for:
a) Coordinating, and controlling of the functions and operations in the Human Resource Division;
b) Implementing Human Resource Policies, Rules, Standards and Procedures governing terms and conditions of service;
c) Advising on administration of the Career Progression Guidelines and Progressions;
d) Planning, coordination and direction of Human resource services in the Authority in such areas as recruitment, promotion, compliment control, placement, deployment and staff development;
e) Managing and updating of Personnel data Systems including a Human Resource Information Management System
f) Employee relations, remuneration and staff welfare;
g) Drafting Human Resource agenda for the Board.
h) Ensuring cascading of the Board’s target to all Human Resources Units
i) Coordinating of performance appraisal and recommendations for rewards/sanctions.
The successful candidate must:
a) Have a Master’s degree in Social Sciences or any other related and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
b) Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any Social Sciences.
c) Have CPS Final/CHRP/Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management;

d) Have at least seven (7) years’ relevant work experience;
e) Have attended a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution;
f) Be member of IHRM;
g) Be proficient in Human Resource based computer application skills;

Chief Administration Officer

Reporting to the Director HR & Administration, the job holder will be responsible for assisting in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines for administrative purposes.
The job holder will also be responsible for:
a) Supporting management of outsourced services on security and cleaning;
b) Ensuring proper maintenance of grounds;
c) Controlling of utility usage;
d) Ensuring timely payment of all utility bills;
e) Advising on deployment of Administrative officers;
f) Coordinating of transport, motor maintenance and cleanliness;
g) Maintenance of all meeting schedules for appropriate allocation of board rooms and conference rooms.
h) Maintaining custody of all office and vehicle keys.
i) Co-ordination of general administrative duties, supervision and guidance of staff working under him/her.
j) Training and career development of Administrative officers.
k) Preparing and submitting of budget estimates for Administrative functions.

Security Officer I

An Officer at this level will be reporting to Senior Security Officer.
Duties and responsibilities entail:
a) Assisting in the formulation and implementation of security policies and procedures.
b) Ensuring the security for NITA staff and assets;
c) Monitoring of security conditions and conduct from both external and internal sources;
d) Identifying security risks and advising on appropriate risk mitigation strategies;
e) Ensuring security compliance at All NITA premises;
f) Ensuring screening of visitors to Authority`s premises;
g) Preventing loss of Authority property through theft, fire, or pilferages;
h) Coordinating security activities on areas of deployment;
i) Liaising with other government security organs on security matters affecting the Authority
j) Coordinating security drills in the Authority;
k) Securing of evidence in the event of any occurrence;
The successful candidate must:
a) Have a diploma in Security Management or equivalent;
b) Have at least served for five (5) years of professional experience in Security Management;
c) Be in Possession of a current Certificate of Good conduct;
d) Have attended a supervisory skills course of not less than four (4) weeks:
f) Have clean record of discharge from Kenya Disciplined Forces;
g) Be computer literate

Corporate Communication Officer II

Reporting to the Senior Corporate Communications Officer, the job holder will be responsible for:
a) Implementing the public communication strategy for the Authority
b) Creating awareness to the public through mass media on the Authority activities and programs;
c) Implementing programs for promoting the Authority’s external image and promoting good public image;
d) Editing and dispatching the information for dissemination to the public and the media;
e) Liaising with media in a proactive manner to highlight the Authority’s roles in promotion of industrial training and other related issues;
f) Gathering information on programmes and significant events and the impact on customers;
g) Organizing events under the guidance of the head of Corporate Communications.
The successful candidate must:
a) Have a Degree in Communication / Journalism / Public Relations / International Relations or its equivalent from a recognized Institution; OR A Degree in Social Sciences and a Post Graduate Diploma in Communication / Journalism / Public Relations / International Relations or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
b) Have at least two (2) years relevant work experience,
c) Have Advanced Computer Application skills;
d) Have excellent written and oral communication skills and good interpersonal Skills.
