Background: DSW (Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung) is an international development and advocacy organisation, which focuses on achieving universal access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). 

DSW’s mission is to empower young people and communities in low and middle-income countries by addressing the issues of population dynamics and health as a way to achieve sustainable development.

In addition to its head office in Hannover, DSW maintains offices in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and liaison offices in Berlin and Brussels. We also work with partners in other countries in Africa and South Asia.

DSW seeks to recruit an Impact Tracking - M&E Coordinator. This is a full time position to be based in Nairobi, Kenya for an initial contract of 1 year with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance.

The position is open to Kenyan nationals only. It will involve travel out of work station.
 

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual with excellent English language skills (native equivalent), interested in working in a dynamic team to assess the impact of programme interventions, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) with a focus on advocacy and Civil Society (NGO) capacity-building in the field of policy and international development, specifically around reproductive health and family planning.
 

Under the supervision of the Advocacy Manager – East Africa, the Impact Tracking - M&E Coordinator will support programme-related impact assessment and M&E work and capacity-building towards increased resource allocation and better policies for Family Planning (FP), SRHR and youth empowerment.

In particular, the post holder will support country office teams in the implementation of the SHAPE programme in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania tracking impact through research (including but not limited to budget and policy reviews, outcome reports, case studies etc.), community engagement / civic education as well as documentation of outcomes and impact stories. 

S/he will also support DSW Country Office M&E teams.

Specific Responsibilities

 
The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Support the development of annual family planning budget and policy reviews, programme outcome and impact reports.
  • Provide technical input and guidance to Country offices in relation to outcome and impact tracking in advocacy and CSO capacity-building programming
  • Support country M&E Officers in the development of an advocacy and capacity-building M&E system, including monitoring and impact tracking tools which can be used to measure the effectiveness of SHAPE activities and changes /outcomes at different levels
  • Support country M&E officers in regular collection and analysis of information and data in advocacy and capacity-building programming
  • Monitor and evaluate overall progress on achievement of project results and ongoing actions
  • Organise and conduct training workshops for DSW staff on systematic data collection, monitoring, evaluation and learning, involving programme implementation countries
  • Suggest strategies to supervisor and M&E team for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of project operations and assist in the identification of potential implementation problems and bottlenecks
  • Report monthly, quarterly and yearly on project progress.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
 Core Qualifications
  • Degree in social sciences or related fields from a recognised University. Post graduate training in monitoring and evaluation will be an added advantage
  • Proven experience of advocacy work towards national and international institutions (required)
  • Demonstrable experience in monitoring, evaluation, research and learning methodologies in advocacy and capacity-building programming (required)
  • Knowledge of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights and Global Health, family planning and global health (required)
  • Experience in coordination of multi-country roles (desirable)
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, research and writing skills
  • Excellent oral and written English (native equivalent) French (desirable), additional languages (desirable)
  • Experience of working in an international team with diplomatic and intercultural skills
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to be flexible in responding to changing work priorities and work under different reporting lines
  • Strong IT skills (research applications, Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook, PowerPoint)
