Vacant Position: Audit Assistant 

Background Information:
 Our client, a busy Audit and consulting Firm based along Ngong Road, would like to fill the above vacant position. 

General Position Description: Reporting to the Managing Director the Audit Assistant will be responsible for conducting audit assignments in accordance with international standards on auditing (ISA) with minimum supervision, preparation of complete financial statements in compliance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS), review of client books of accounts with a view to ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAPs), prepare returns in compliance with tax regulations using itax and demonstrate knowledge of PAYE, NSSF, NHIF and other statutory deductions. 


The audit assistant must demonstrate technical knowledge of accounting and auditing. 

Specific Duties
 
Specifically the Audit Assistant will be tasked with the following duties;
  • Participate in opening meetings with the client to explain the scope and objectives of the audit engagement and provide an overview of all the necessary steps.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the business processes and scope for assigned audits and document the process using working papers
  • Identify and document inherent risks and controls within client business
  • Conduct an audit assignment using designed audit programs
  • Generate and prepare complete sets of financial statements i.e. income statements, statement of financial position and cash flow statements with accompanying notes.
  • Propose practical and value adding recommendations to address control weaknesses or process inefficiencies
  • Interpret Financial Statements
  • Prepare an informative audit report to effectively communicate the findings and recommendations to the client.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
Person Specification
 
The ideal candidate for the position should be a B Com holder, a CPA K or equivalent professional qualification, with 2 years relevant working experience, has a good understanding of compliance requirements including the iTax, excellent analytical skills and knowledge of accounting softwares. 

S/he should be a team player who can intelligently relate to clients and can work under minimum supervision.
