Project Manager Job in Kenya

Summary: Our client is one of the leading service provider in this highly competitive and dynamic technology space delivering innovative technology applications in East Africa and beyond. 

This is in addition to consulting expertise in project management, application development, implementation and maintenance. 

They are looking for a suitable candidate to fill the post of a Project Manager - Enterprise Applications on a 6-month contractual basis.

Purpose of the job:
 The Project Manager will primarily plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. 

This will include acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. 

The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements from beginning to the end.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management, project stakeholders and other members of the project team.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools and track such milestones and deliverables.
  • Monitor project delivery and proactively identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Effectively enforce project standards, prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures including reviewing deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
  • Build, maintain, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Chair project steering committee meetings and effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner.
  • Work with business development department in creating new business ideas, opportunities and new projects; draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes.
  • Manage internal and external communication to clients and the team regarding the project progress and deliverables.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify and document successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in Ms Projects and or Primavera project portfolio management or any equivalent project management tool.
  • At least 8 years experience in managing enterprise applications projects in East and Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Experience in technology related areas including: enterprise systems management and infrastructure (datacenter) architecture experience with significant depth around designing, implementing, and managing critical business infrastructure.
  • Engagement experience should include IT strategy initiatives, database and applications, and leveraging overall technical architecture knowledge across multiple industries
  • The individual should have extensive architectural skills dealing with infrastructure solutions such as systems management and business continuity.
  • Expert level knowledge of x86 operating systems, advanced networking, storage architectures.
  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills.
  • Must be effective in a team setting and motivation.
  • Ability to uncover business challenges and develop a custom solution to solve those challenges.
  • He or she should be an accomplished presenter of technical material to both small and large groups. The ability to present extemporaneously is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required.
  • Ability to travel up to 80%.
