Consumer Voice & VAS Communications Manager

Reporting to Senior Manager- Consumer Business Unit Marketing, the role entails understanding the overall strategy for the consumer business unit in order to advice the team and lead them in outbound marketing activities for their products. 

The role will require that you become an expert on the products, the market, and competition and be able to translate this knowledge into high-impact materials that clearly communicate the value of Safaricom consumer products to the market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Having a holistic understanding of the overall consumer voice and VAS strategy and provide support by coordinating the marketing activities so as to deliver on their overall objective.
  • Work with research team and product managers/business unit managers to ensure you have a full understanding of the various consumer segments serviced by the product category;
  • Provide strategic marketing input based on product understanding and research analysis.
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager – Consumer Marketing on ‘Measurement and Evaluation’ of advertising performance on product as well as on brand equity tracking
  • Develop the core positioning, messaging and segmentation for Consumer Business unit when liaising with advertising agency, media, activations, digital and communications team.
  • Market Intelligence – expert on consumers and competition, new Markets opportunities.
  • Develop quality briefs to advertising agencies that meet agreed objectives within specified timelines and drive execution of approved campaigns
  • Manage cost estimates to ensure they are competitive.

Minimum requirements
  • Degree from a recognized university preferably marketing and communication;
  • 3 experience in a marketing and communication role as well as understanding of media will be an added advantage;
  • Conversant with Safaricom/telecommunication data products as well as full understanding of the consumer business unit strategy;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (articulate) coupled with good listening and critical reasoning skills;
  • Proactive, confident, energetic and able to work under pressure with a positive attitude and good organization skills;
  • Team player, excellent interpersonal and decision making skills.

Senior Integration Engineer

Reporting to the Principal Integration Engineer, the role holder Facilitates client on-boarding by enabling consumption of Safaricom products through technical integration in a speedily and accurate fashion as well as client transitioning to Technical Support by provision of relevant technical/integration documents.

The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:
  • Complete all client integrations within project timelines;
  • Handle Simple Integrations (Internet, MPLS, PRSP, UC, Cloud);
  • Handle Complex integrations (Autofailover/load-balancing, IPSEC VPNs, BGP Configuration, Cloud etc.)
  • Support the new products go to market;
  • Achieve quality solutions integrations;
  • Ensure best practice integration standard is maintained (client added on Allot, TACACs configured and standard configuration template used) ;
  • Send integration report (schematic diagram, configuration details, speed and latency tests and service acceptance (filled service order form) by client) within 24 hrs. after integration
  • Build high performance, motivated and customer focused teams;
  • Attend Internal trainings to improve job productivity ;
  • Respond, attend and resolve customer queries/issues within 4 hrs. ;
  • Ring fence baseline customer revenues through proactive churn and credit notes management
  • Enforce Customer test and acceptance criteria for complex projects.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & competencies:
  • Computer Science, or Bsc. Electrical & electronic engineering, Telecommunication engineering or equivalent;
  • CCNA a must. CCNP/CCIP/CCIE preferred;
  • Excellent IP skills including but not limited to MPLS, VRRP, HSRP, GLBP, IPSEC VPN, GRE Tunnels and BGP;
  • 2-4 years, hands-on experience in technical support and implementation/configuration;
  • Excellent technical reporting skills;
  • Customer care experience a must;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Innovative and self-motivated;
  • Result oriented;
  • Self-Confidence.
