Profile Introduction
Our Client, an independent Oil and Gas company with over 90 licenses in 25 countries seeks to recruit a Senior Field Civil Engineer.
The company is principally engaged in the oil and gas exploration, development, production and the sale of hydrocarbons and related activities with operations in Europe, Africa, South Asia and South America and through successful exploration and consistent delivery of major projects, the company has become Africa’s leading independent Oil Company.
The position holder will be reporting to the Civil Engineering Manager and supervises civil works contractors and consultants.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Educational and professional qualifications
  • Bsc. Degree in civil engineering preferred
  • At least 5 years in Civil Engineering works
  • At least 10 years in a similar role
Job Purpose
To support the Kenya Well Operations Team in delivering Field Civil works within budget and schedule by offering close oversight of civil works contractors and Consultants to ensure those works are conducted in accordance with the company’s standards and other relevant requirements.

Job Specification
  • Make day to day decisions regarding civil construction with minimal supervision to deliver the agreed the company’s work scope.
  • Day to day communication with in-country Drilling Supervisor to ensure that Well Engineering project requirements are met.
  • Hold regular progress meetings with Contractor and Consultant.
  • Prepare scopes of work, bills of quantity, schedule estimations and technical specifications for planned activities.
  • Provide decision support information to Operation and Well Engineering Managers with respect to civil works requirements related to different projects
  • Agree supervision plans with Consultant’s engineers.
  • Monitor financial and physical progress of works on site to ensure timely delivery of projects within agreed budget
  • Provide technical support for civil projects by checking designs prepared by civil Consultants.
  • Report site progress to Civil Engineering or Project Manager.
  • Areas covered include design, construction and maintenance of:
  • Well pads
  • Structural facilities, both soil, concrete and metal;
  • Access roads;
  • Assess the performance of Contractors and Consultants against the following Key Performance Indicators
Key Competencies and Skills
  • Fully conversant with MS Office, AutoCAD
  • Sound technical skills
  • EHS awareness
  • Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Negotiating skills
  • Management ability and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - English
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
