Farm Manager

Our client, a well-established State Corporation is seeking to recruit a Farm Manager with hands on experience in planning and managing commercial farm operations from production, marketing and logistics to managing staff in a strong union environment. 

The successful candidate will develop & implement medium and long -term growth strategies and ensure that the farm delivers the expected annual turnover and production targets.

She/he must be willing to work in Tana River and Turkana Counties with extensive travelling to other parts of Kenya.

Specifically, she/he will;
  • Ensure the overall farm management and set targets are achieved as per business plan
  • Design and implement farm policies, processes and procedures while maximizing on leveraged resources
  • Meet the Production Quality standards and guidelines
  • Build staff capacity through training and motivating staff to achieve higher productivity
  • Identify, implement and benchmark best practices in Farm and Crop management
  • Ensure prompt and regular reporting and communicating on farm performance
  • Ensure safety and security of all assets and employees within the farms.
Key Qualification, Experience & Skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Engineering from a recognized university;
  • Master degree in the above fields or Business field will be a definite advantage;
  • At least three (3) years of experience at management level in large-scale agriculture;
  • Experience in commercial farming in a highly mechanized irrigated agriculture environment is desirable;
  • Strong business acumen, people management and report writing skills.

Agricultural Officer
  • Responsible to the Head of Division, the Successful candidate will plan and implement cropping programmes; mobilize, sensitize and train farmers, staff and stakeholders on relevant agronomic practices and issues; 
  • undertake specific agricultural based trials; investigate, collect and analyze data and prepare reports; 
  • participate in monitoring and evaluation of agricultural programmes; 
  • participate in project identification, planning and implementation; 
  • pursue strategic linkages with various institutions/farmer organizations and commercially manage identified agricultural enterprise. 
  • She/he must be willing to work in Tana River and Turkana Counties with extensive travelling to other parts of Kenya.
Key Qualification, Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from a recognized university
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work and give results with minimum supervision
  • Computer literate
