Chemonics International seeks a staple foods specialist and an M&E specialist for an anticipated five-year, DFID-funded project that will be based in Dar Es Salaam and operate throughout East and Southern Africa. 

The project will seek to increase the number of individuals benefiting from participation in national and cross-border staple value chains by increasing agricultural trade and marketing of staple foods. 

The staple foods and M&E specialists will contribute to project strategies and provide technical and communication expertise on staple foods market systems development.

Staple Foods Specialist
 
Qualifications: 
 
Advanced experience with regional staple crop market systems in East and Southern Africa
 
Masters degree or higher in agronomy, agricultural economics, political economy, or relevant field
 
Knowledge of structured trading systems and current private and public initiatives to improve market structures in East and Southern Africa
 
Established networks with regional organizations and firms (private sector, CSOs, government bodies, academic and research institutes, etc.) working to address agricultural market system failures in East and Southern Africa
 
Private sector experience in staple food trade and/or transport
 
Experience conducting value chain analyses for staple foods
 
Technical expertise in one or more staple foods required
 
Experience working on past DFID rural and agriculture development projects strongly preferred
 
Excellent written and oral communication skills
 
Fluent English required
 
M&E Specialist
 
Qualifications: 
 
Degree in agricultural economics, communications, or relevant field
 
Experience with implementing M&E systems for agriculture and/or regional trade focused donor-funded projects
 
Demonstrated experience developing M&E tools and systems, including log frames, results chains, and intervention maps
 
Experience training partners and beneficiaries on data collection and results reporting
 
Proven track record working with team members to incorporate results reporting requirements into grants and subcontracts agreements
 
Experience working on past DFID projects strongly preferred
 
Excellent written and oral communication skills
 
Fluent English required
 
Operations Manager
 
Advanced degree preferred in program management
 
Minimum 10 years managing administrative and financial operations for large-scale donor-funded project, DFID experience preferred
 
Experience managing both country head office and regional office operations for internationally donor-funded program
 
Familiarity with grants programming preferred
 
Fluent English required
