General Manager

Our client is a licensed upcoming micro finance institution with operations in Nairobi and working on countrywide expansion.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the General Manager will be responsible for the overall business growth, profitability and leadership in the organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Formulating and implementing strategies that will translate into sustainable profitability and business growth.
  • Developing organizational systems to support business plans.
  • Identifying investment opportunities and formulating business plans.
  • Developing and marketing appropriate loan products.
  • Growing the loan book, liabilities and deposits as per set targets.
  • Mobilization and management of deposits and funds for onward lending.
  • Monitoring the business environment and devising appropriate strategies to mitigate risks while enhancing business performance.
  • Ensuring high quality management reports on business performance.
  • Managing relationships with customers and promoting the organisation brand and image.
  • Leading and guiding staff development and motivation initiatives.
  • Ensuring full compliance to internal policies and adherence to regulatory and statutory guidelines.
The ideal position holder will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related discipline preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Commerce.
  • Professional qualifications such as CPA,ACCA,ACIB will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in banking or financial institution management with emphasis in micro-lending and/or SMEs.
  • Working knowledge of software applications used in banking and micro finance institutions.
  • A self-driven and results oriented attitude.
  • Good understanding of micro finance business and regulatory framework.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
