Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.63,782   -   Ksh.81,404   p.m. (Job Group ‘P’)
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
1.     have relevant working experience of twelve (12) years in Civil Works, three (3) of which should have been at Job Group ‘M’ or above or in a comparable position in the wider Public Service;
2.     have a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university;
3.     be registered by the Engineer’s Registration Board of Kenya and be a corporate member of the Institution of Engineer’s of Kenya;
4.     have experience in project management and implementation;
5.     have a high degree of professional competence, management capacity and leadership qualities required for   effective planning, directing, controlling and coordination of technical projects; and
6.     have a thorough understanding of national goals, policies and development objectives and the ability to translate them into efficient transport systems,  policies and programmes.


Duties and Responsibilities


The officer will be deployed in the Ministry of Transport and will be responsible to the Principal Superintending Engineer.
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:
1.     supervising projects in aerodromes, airstrips, sea ports, rail, roads and general civil works;
2.     developing and reviewing general and specific policies and strategies for the transport sector
3.     studying the social, economic and environmental impacts of transport systems on the ecosystems;
4.     planning, directing, controlling and designing transportation projects; and
5.     planning, directing and controlling research, standardization and operations of transport systems.
