Accountant and Warehouse Supervisor: Deacons Jobs in Kenya

Deacons Kenya Limited, the leading fashion retailer in East Africa over the last fifty years, is seeking to recruit focused, self-driven professionals of high integrity in the positions specified below Deacons operates nine exciting brands namely, Woolworths, Truworths, Identity, Mr. Price Home, Mr. Price Clothing, Sheet Street, 4u2, Angelo and Adidas, through eighteen retail outlets with a central Head office and warehousing operation.

Following the recent successful launch of four additional stores in Kampala and Dar es Salaam, Deacons is poised for further expansion within the region.

Accountant

Reporting through the Senior Accountant, your role will involve providing assistance in the following:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts;
  • Preparation of monthly expense variance analysis;
  • Inter-company transactions and reconciliations including foreign currency accounting;
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies;
  • Fixed assets control and management;
  • Inventory control including physical count;
  • Sales cycle audit confirming sales are banked per policy;
  • Any other duties as delegated.

The person:

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting, or recognized equivalent, with CPA Part 2;
  • At least 2 years experience in the accounting field;
  • Prior experience using an ERP system is desirable;
  • Strong Microsoft excel, analytic and problem solving skills;
  • Team player with good communication skills.

Warehouse Supervisor

Reporting through the Warehouse manager, your role will involve providing assistance in the following:

  • Review and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Preparation, review and maintenance of documentation and statistical reports;
  • Monitoring and reporting on all OTIF deliveries;
  • Preparation for stock rakes and cycle counts;
  • Follow up of stock position with clearing agents, suppliers and quality control bodies;
  • Ordering of non stock items as required;
  • Recording and follow up of all warehouse expenditure;
  • Any other duties as delegated.

The person:

  • Diploma in Stores management or recognized equivalent;
  • 5 years working experience in a stores or warehousing environment, the last 2 being in a supervisory role;
  • Prior experience working with an ERP system is mandatory;
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Good knowledge of inventory management, cycle and stock counts.
