Responsibilities
·         Fighting fires

·         Rescuing people either from fire or dangerous situations such as drowning, poisonous atmosphere, pit latrines, road accidents and any other humanitarian services that the service may be called up on to undertake.
·         Part of his standby time during each day shift shall be spent in drills and practices.
·         Taking part in events such as Mashujaa day, Madaraka day, Jamhuri day and St.John ambulance parade respectively.
Qualifications
·         Must be of Kenyan Nationality
·         At least 18 and not more than 28 years of age
·         Ex-regular member of armed forces may be appointed if below the age of 35 years.
·         The Kenya Certificate of secondary, mean grade D plain.
·         Be at least 5ft 7inches tall or preferable height and have a chest measurement of 36 inches unexpanded, with an expansion of not less than 2 inches.
·         Be physically fit.
·         Be certified medically fit by a Government doctor.
·         First Aid certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. Johns Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
Terms of service: Permanent
Salary Scale: 16,890 – 20,800 p.m.

Fire Brigade Driver 20-25K (4 Posts)

Responsibilities
·         Pump operation
·         Hydraulic platform and
·         Turntable ladder operation and can work as a fireman.
·         Part of his stand-by time during each day shift is spent in drills and practices, keeping fire engine in order and other duties about the station.
Qualifications
·         Must be of Kenyan Nationality
·         At least 18 and not more than 28 years of age
·         Ex-regular member of armed forces may be appointed if below the age of 35 years.
·         The Kenya Certificate of secondary, mean grade D+ (plus).
·         Heavy commercial driving license
·         Be at least 5ft 7inches tall or preferable height and have a chest measurement of 36 inches unexpanded, with an expansion of not less than 2 inches.
·         Be physically fit.
·         Be certified medically fit by a Government doctor.

Responsibilities
·         Operating machines of ‘difficult rating’ C
·         Assisting machine attendants in identifying possible breakdowns.
·         Liaising with mechanics for servicing
·         Making daily and weekly oil checks
·         Maintenance of work tickets.
·         Security of the plant on and off the road
·         Cleanliness and overall plant maintenance and management.
Qualifications
·         Have a Kenya certificate of secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade ‘D’ plain or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
·         Have passed the suitability Test for plant operators grade III Possess a valid driving license free from current endorsements for class (es) of machine(s) that one may be required to operate.

·         Be able to operate, at least two (2) plants of ‘difficult rating’ C,
·         Attended First-Aid certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St.John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBIT) or any other recognized institutions
·         Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
·         A valid certificate of Good conduct from the Kenya police.
Terms of service: Permanent
Salary Scale: 14,610 – 16,250 p.m.

Mechanical Inspector 23-29K (3 Posts)

An officer serving in this level will be based in the Headquarters/Sub county workshops and will be attached to a small motor vehicle or plant repair section.
Responsibilities
·         Repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and plant.
·         Inspect and test vehicles and equipment before and after repairs.
·         Conduct proficiency test for drivers.
Qualifications
·         A diploma (Automotive) or other approved equivalent qualification; and
·         A valid driving license.
Terms of service: Permanent
Salary Scale: 23,780 – 29,190 p.m.

Superintendent (35-46K)

Responsibilities
·         An officer at this level will work under the supervision of a senior officer in carrying out the repair work on motor vehicles and plant machinery within a given station.
·         The officer will be required to inspect motor vehicles and plants with a view to repairing or boarding.
·         He is also required to inspect and give valuation reports on motor vehicles as required.
·         The officer may also be deployed to carry out duties in a transport officer
·         The officer will supervise junior staff.
Qualifications
·         A diploma (Automotive) or other approved equivalent qualification,
·         A driving license
·         Served in the grade of senior inspector (Mechanical) or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for at least three (3) years.
·         Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Terms of service: Permanent
Salary Scale: 35,400 – 46,230 p.m.
