Quantitative and Qualitative Field Interviewers for A Research Project
To implement the study, the Center is
seeking to recruit qualitative and quantitative fieldworkers who met the
criteria below:
Quantitative and Qualitative Field Interviewers for A Research Project
The African Population and Health
Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental
organization that undertakes policy relevant research on education, health,
population, and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa, and headquartered
in Nairobi, Kenya.
APHRC invites applications for
quantitative and qualitative field interviewers for an upcoming study that aims
to understand the process and dynamics of gender socialization in the school
environment; and the association between gender norms and sexual and
reproductive health related behavior, knowledge and attitudes among very young
adolescents. The study will be conducted in Korogocho and Viwandani at the
beginning of 2019.
Minimum qualifications required for
quantitative interviewers:

Have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary
Education certificate, with a minimum grade of C+;
·
Proven experience in quantitative
research data collection; prior experience in research involving adolescent
will be an added advantage
·
Fluent in English and Kiswahili, in
both oral and written form
·
Familiarity and proficiency in mobile
data collection, especially use of Open Data Kit (ODK) or Survey CTO
·
Strong interpersonal and
communication skills
·
Knowledge of/experience working in
Korogocho and Viwandani will be an added advantage
·
Is available to work full time for
the duration of the project
·
Is flexible and available to work odd
hours (when necessary), under minimum supervision
Job Description (responsibilities)
for quantitative interviewers:
·
Conduct interviews on all recruited
study participants
·
Complete, edit and submit all
interviews for cross-checking and verification by the supervisor.
·
Keep updated records and databases of
assigned work.
·
Other related activities, assigned by
the supervisor and project manager.
Minimum qualifications required for
qualitative:
·
A first degree in Public Health or any
other Social science or Health related field
·
Fluent in English and Swahili, in
both oral and written form
·
Have proven experience and skills in
qualitative research work, especially in research involving adolescents
·
Have proven experience and skills in
participatory research methods, and mainly use of Photovoice
·
Can facilitate interviews and group
discussions in English and Swahili
·
Has experience in note taking during
qualitative discussions
·
Has strong interpersonal and
communication skills
·
Knowledge of/experience working in
Korogocho and Viwandani will be an added advantage
·
Is available to work full time for
the duration of the project
·
Is flexible and available to work odd
hours (when necessary), under minimum supervision
Job Description (responsibilities)
for qualitative interviewers:
·
Facilitate/moderate focus group
discussions with parents/guardians of adolescent girls and boys
·
Take notes and compile comprehensive
qualitative interview debriefing notes / reports
·
Facilitate/moderate photovoice
activities
·
Prepare data collection progress
updates and reports
·
Other related activities, assigned by
the supervisor and project manager
