SAPCONE is a Kenyan based non –governmental organization whose mandate is to work with people particularly pastoralist and fisher-folk communities in Northern Kenya as the main beneficiaries of peace and development.


We do this through innovative project implementation for purposes of attaining sustainable livelihoods. Formed in 2006 as community based organization and transitioned in 2011 as National Public Benefits Organization.
Since its inception in 2006 the organization, has implemented several projects on good governance and social accountability, increase access to education and child protection ,support and strengthen community projects for resilience and livelihoods, Promote innovative peace building and recurring conflict among Turkana and cross border communities in South Omo zone in Ethiopia,
SAPCONE is seeking a dynamic and suitable qualified person for the position mention below and be based in the duty station indicated.
Position: Social Workers
Reference: SAP/SW/006/2018

Duties and Responsibilities
·         Conduct field visits for case assessments in coordination with other SAPCONE staff and keeps track of socio-environmental risks faced by victims at heightened risk;
·         Implement and monitor merit based social assistance informed by vulnerability assessment in individual cases in accordance with SAPCONE SOPs with timely updates to the psychosocial panel;
·         Provide social assistance including food and non-food items as necessary;
·         Interview separated children, unaccompanied minors and other children-at-risk for the purpose of preparing Best Interest Assessment (BIA) reports;
·         Liaise with the Child Protection Officer to ensure services are reaching separated and unaccompanied minors, including specific services as recommended
·         Provide basic counseling and facilitate external services or appointments;
·         Assist in the organization and facilitation of capacity building activities e.g. workshops, trainings or information dissemination;
·         Prepare periodic reports on social services;
Qualifications and Competencies
·         University degree in Social work or related field with a strong bias in counseling.
·         Computer literacy a must: working knowledge of MS office required;
·         Good knowledge of human rights doctrine and working experience in counseling;
·         Experience in capacity building including facilitation of community-based training and awareness raising;
·         Good knowledge of child rights and prevention and response to SGBV issues;
·         • Good knowledge of Turkana County and its environs;
·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Experience: No less than 2 years previous work experience, including at least 1 year in counselling or social work preferably in an NGO setting.


Job Title: Shelter Manager

Skill and Experience
This position is responsible for the supervision of children and the general oversight of activities within the half way house to ensure a safe, secure, comfortable, and supportive environment.
·         Ensure admission and exit of children from the shelter is followed suit as per the admissions guiding policy
·         Supervise and monitor social and recreational activities of children within the shelter
·         Performs data entry into a computerized record keeping system and maintains thorough and accurate case records and statistics
·         Offer assistance to the psychosocial counselor in developing Comprehensive Rehabilitation Needs Assessments and Individualized Rehabilitation Plans when needed.
·         Oversees maintenance of confidential and up to date documentation on all admission cases
·         Maintain policy and procedure manual to ensure compliance, safety, organization and consistent procedures among staff and clients
Qualifications and Competencies
·         University degree in Social work or social sciences
·         Computer literacy a must: working knowledge of MS office required
·         1-2 years supervisory experience
·         Good knowledge of child rights and prevention and response to SGBV issues;

·         Good knowledge of Turkana County and its environs;
·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
·         Preferably 2-3 years of experience working with victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, or child abuse, Gender based violence


Job Title: Community Facilitator
Duty Station: Kerio Delta and Lapur wards

Duties and Responsibilities
·         Engage in continuous participatory needs assessment in the community & lead the development and implementation of an innovative Food Security and Livelihoods Programme, through community based systems, addressing the needs of the most vulnerable members of society.
·         Develop, implement, monitor, evaluate and report on sustainable livelihoods and emergency projects implemented in the community.
·         Develop all project implementation work plans and budgets within the framework of the agreed livelihoods and emergency response programme and strategy.
·         Strengthen programme linkages and foster good working relations with civil society organizations, government agencies, private sector and community based organizations.
Qualifications and Competencies
·         Hold at least a diploma or certificate in development related fields; Agriculture, Community Development, Natural Resource Management, Water and Sanitation or closely related discipline.
·         Have at least two years practical experience managing agricultural/livelihoods /food security/WASH/humanitarian aid projects under complex operating environments in arid and semi-arid areas.
·         Demonstrated practical project management experience covering all aspects of the project cycle from needs assessment, design, log-frame development, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
·         Have good interpersonal skills, communication, computer, analytical skills, and report writing skills.
·         Ability and willingness to travel to arid locations and live in basic conditions.
·         A valid driving license for motorbikes or class A.

Job Title: Child Protection Officer
Duty Station: Lodwar
Reference: SAP/CPO/009/2018

Duties and Responsibilities
·         Daily coordination of case management activities
·         Management of the referral pathway ensuring coordination with partners on referrals
·         Supervision of child protection team leaders and the database officers
·         Organize and facilitate periodic planning and program reviews meetings
·         Participate in management of complex or high risk child protection cases including managing a limited number of cases requiring specialized interventions
·         Participate in the family level interventions with social workers and team leaders to more effectively manage outcomes or interventions; including participation in selected follow ups
·         Review triages and guiding social workers in determining the best course of action in case management
·         Support in the conduction of community mobilization for child protection including work with child protection committees
·         Work closely with child protection psychosocial counselor to identify high risk cases / children in distress for psychosocial and mental health support
·         Participate in need assessments and project evaluations aiming at contributing to the development of the child protection program strategy in Turkana
·         Organize and facilitate weekly internal case conference meetings
·         Represent SAPCONE at case management and coordination meetings
·         Develop field reports on a periodic basis
·         Support documentation activities in the project by development of case studies and best practices from the field
Qualifications and Competencies
·         Graduate degree in social work / social sciences
·         Minimum of 3 years’ experience in case management
·         Experience in the case management process and knowledge of BIA/BID
·         Experience in mental health and psychosocial support programming
·         Team management and Project reporting and evaluation experience
·         Strong training experience required
·         Good computer skills: MS Word and Excel
