Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Retail managers are responsible for the day-to-day running of stores or departments.

The
ideal candidate will be required to be in charge of up to 20 retail outlets for
a leading Kenyan brand, they will also be required to deal with:
- General
operations
- Customer
service;
- Finance;
- Human
resources;
- Information
technology;
- Logistics;
- Marketing.
Key
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Managing
and motivating a team to increase sales and ensure efficiency.
- Managing
stock levels and making key decisions about stock control.
- Analysing
sales figures and forecasting future sales.
- Analysing
and interpreting trends to facilitate planning.
- Using
information technology to record sales figures, for data analysis and
forward planning;
- Dealing
with staffing issues such as interviewing potential staff, conducting
appraisals and performance reviews, as well as providing guidance for
training and development.
- Ensuring
standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met.
- Resolving
health and safety, legal and security issues.
- Responding
to higher level customer complaints and comments.
- Organising
special promotions, displays and events.
- Attending
and chairing meetings.
- Updating
colleagues on business performance, new initiatives and other pertinent
issues.
- Touring
the sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues and customers and
identifying or resolving urgent issues.
- Maintaining
awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understanding
forthcoming customer initiatives and monitoring what local competitors are
doing.
- Initiating
changes to improve the business, e.g. Revising opening hours to ensure the
store can compete effectively in the local market, floor planning, shop
layouts etc
- Promoting
the organisation locally by liaising with local schools, newspapers and
the community in general.
- Dealing
with sales, as and when required.
- Perform
related duties as assigned by the line manager.
- Maintain
compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Education
and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- 7
years’ experience with 2 years of those being in a similar role.
- Proven
successful experience as a large formalized store/franchise manager
- Powerful
leading skills and business orientation
- Customer
management skills; Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines,
while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer
service
- Strong
organisational skills
- Excellent
verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively
communicate with internal and external customers
- Excellent
computer proficiency with experience in working with integrated systems
and reporting.
- Ability
to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within
parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard
accepted practices
- Bachelor’s
degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or other relevant field.
- A
master’s degree would be an advantage but isn’t mandatory
Additional
Requirements:
- Up
to 30% travel for cross country outlet visits.
- Legal
authorization to work in Kenya.
- Flexibility
in work hours to trouble shoot or work extended hours where necessary.
