Stock Accountant Career in Nairobi Kenya

We are looking to recruit a Stock Accountant for our client, a leader in the broadcast media sector, in Nairobi, Kenya.

Position Overview: Reporting to the Procurement and Stock Controller, the role will ensure that stock control procedures are in place and will also be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient management of stocks.

The role will also support in financial reporting through ensuring all stock data is updated correctly.

Responsibilities
  • Improve cost allocation within P&L and report accurately.
  • Maintain Import Cost Price Model.
  • Prepare month end stock reconciliations and agreed stock balance to the General Ledger.
  • Perform monthly and year-end closing of inventory in values.
  • Implement inventory policies and procedures.
  • Perform weekly and monthly physical stock checks and highlight variances and ensure accurate inventory levels are maintained at the warehouse.
  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc inventory levels and consumption reports to all the relevant departments.
  • Maintaining acceptable and accurate inventory levels at warehouse/inventory locations based on goods in the store.
  • Coordinate with accounting to ensure that all product costs are properly taken in the cost of sales and inventory costs.
  • Responsible for communicating with all department managers and purchasing on inventory levels and locations.
  • Create and post invoices to intercompany and local suppliers.
  • Verify the price of the stock received by the warehouse on the invoices matches with the committed prices during the plan.
  • Ensuring that finished goods delivered to the customers are matched with the actual invoices issued to the customers and payments are done on time.
  • Check intercompany balances and solve balances.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or business
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CPAK).
  • Knowledge of stock Accounting /Inventory Management, IFRS and financial reconciliation
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a similar role
  • High level proficiency in SAP and MS Office, and especially MS Excel
  • Must possess skills in general ledger accounting with bias in stock accounting and purchase order processing.
  • Awareness of Financial accounting working knowledge
  • Must be a person of integrity, a team player and possess a positive attitude
  • Quick thinker with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, proactive and willing to learn
  • Ability to work well under pressure, deadline orientated and be able to prioritize
  • Good  communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong figure orientation with accuracy and attention to detail
