Tax and Administration Accountant Job in Kenya

Our client, the largest integrated poultry operation in East and Central Africa are looking to hire a Tax and Administration Accountant

Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, the person will advise management, on how to minimize tax liability, update them on any tax changes that affect the business and ensure compliance with Kenya Revenue Authority requirements. 

The person will also be responsible for payroll processing. 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review various tax filings: annual reports, intangible tax, sales and use tax.
  • Prepare and update tax provision schedules & company sales tax database as tax rates change
  • Assist in financial planning and analysis and keep abreast of current developments in the tax area and complete required tax reporting in a timely manner
  • Coordinate audits by various taxation authorities
  • Advise management regarding the tax impact of corporate strategies and impact of new laws on tax liabilities
  • Ensure that proper records are maintained for the company’s contract scheme to ensure timely payment and submission of crop returns to the farmers.
  • Maintain detailed records of cost, depreciation, disposals additions and supporting documents that support all fixed assets movement.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly VAT, with holding (VAT and Income Tax) and P.A.Y.E in line with the set deadlines.
  • Maintains legislative materials by reviewing, interpreting, and implementing new or revised laws.
  • Maintains compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to relevant authorities.
  • Develop and streamline procedures for calculation of tax provisions.
  • Identify profitability of potential mergers and acquisitions by analyzing tax information; calculating key ratios; identifying areas of tax savings among others

Candidate Requirements
  • University degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A qualified accountant with CPA or ACCA professional qualifications
  • Minimum of five years with proven working experience as Tax Administrator
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
