Business Executives

The Business Executives will be charged with selling advertising for The Standard and digital platform, providing effective services to clients so as to maximize advertising sales volumes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieving set annual and monthly targets for multimedia advertising sales
  • To increase advertising opportunities within Standard Groups products which will translate to higher revenues
  • To follow systems and standards desired to deliver highest customer service to clients
  • To support, maintain and grow business contacts with both the existing and potential advertising clients and agents.
  • Develop strategy to increase sales volumes and market share
Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or any relevant degree.
  • Professional diploma qualification in Marketing
  • Full competence in presentation skills is required
  • Experience of 2 years in sales

Regional Team Leader - Western

The incumbent will be charged with increasing circulation sales, market share, managing returns levels and ensuring payments are made promptly in accordance with agreed terms to meet SGL’s circulation business objectives.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Grow circulation numbers that meet the company objectives in the assigned region
  • Agree with vendors/agents on their orders, liaise with the Team leader - Supplies, place newspaper orders and follow up to confirm deliveries
  • Ensure availability of newspapers / magazines to all sales points through effective management of agents and vendors orders
  • Open up new markets, recruit vendors and harmonise delivery of SGL/PDS publications
  • Monitor all aspects of sales performance of Sales Executives and take appropriate action to maximise on sales volumes
  • Monitor vendors/agents activities to ensure that operations are geared towards meeting the Company’s objectives
  • Organise sales promotion programs, point of sales promotions and materials & ensure effective as well as attractive displays
  • Coordinate proper and programmed collection of payments and returns and monitor the performance of competitor’s products
  • Obtain market feedback from vendors and readers for dissemination to Head Office for appropriate action.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Basic University Degree in business related course
  • Diploma in Sales and Marketing
  • 3 - 5 years’ work experience
  • Good knowledge of assigned region; including laying strategy for market expansion and penetration
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work irregular hours
  • Selling skills and good interpersonal skills
  • People management skills
Distribution Assistants – Central and Nairobi Regions

The job holder will report to the Sales Executive & Team Leader and will carry out Sales & Distribution activities for the Group’s newspapers and magazines within the assigned sales territories.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • To work with the appointed vendors to ensure that they get newspapers on time each day and to collect all revenues realized from newspaper sales
  • To maintain close contact and effective liaison with vendors and to report any problems encountered to the Sales Executive or Team Leader for immediate action
  • To identify opportunities for market expansion in the area/territory, and to identify potential vendors and report to the Sales Executive.
  • To monitor arrival time of vendors to the various drop off points against the time the delivery van arrives and report any problems to the Sales Executive for appropriate corrective action by the Transport Officer
  • To recommend any alternative transport routes and/or drop off points to the Sales Executive
  • To monitor the trend of sales and returns by vendors, to determine required adjustments and to communicate those adjustments to the Sales Executive
  • To liaise with vendors to ensure that The Standard Limited publications and magazines get prominent display/exposure
Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma in Sales & Marketing or Business Administration
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in sales & marketing
  • Experience in field selling
  • High degree of integrity
  • Good communication skills and ability to deal with diverse people
  • Valid Riding License
