Society Limited (Stima Sacco) is a leading country-wide, fast growing and
licensed DTS (Deposit Taking Sacco) with an asset base of Kshs 16.3bn, a loan
book of 14bn, a deposit base of 13bn and membership of 36,000 derived from the
energy, utilities, services, small and micro enterprises (SMEs) and other
sectors.
In order to achieve the planned
growth, the Sacco is looking for a qualified and competent professional to fill
the following vacancy:
Head of Enterprise Risk Management

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Board Audit & Risk Committee and the Chief Executive Officer and working with various heads of functions, the job holder will determine the strategic and operational risk appetite across the Sacco, establish frameworks and policies for monitoring and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
He/she will ensure effectiveness and
adequacy of internal control systems, risk management and governance policies,
procedures and processes and the Sacco’s compliance with statutory requirements
and regulations.

- Establish and ensure execution of integrated
risk management strategy, frameworks and policies and monitor the Sacco’s
compliance with these.
- Periodically determine and quantify the
strategic and operational risks appetite of the Sacco in conjunction with
various heads of functions.
- Lead risk assessment activities by identifying,
analyzing, describing and estimating the risks affecting the business.
- Establish an efficient and effective control
environment to monitor risk, oversee and enforce risk management policies
to close gaps in risk capabilities.
- Ensure prompt reporting of risk exposures and
provide advice on their resolution, in line with best practices.
- Ensure that risk management, control and
governance systems are functioning as intended and enable the
organization’s objectives and goals to be met.
- Oversee the classification of risk categories
covering strategy, operations, finance and reputation.
- Serve as the custodian of the Sacco-wide risk
register and ensure regular reporting, tracking and mitigation of the
risks.
- Attend Board Audit Committee meetings as the
Committee Secretary
- Advise on risk issues and prepare reports for
the Board and Management to assist in decision making.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- A University degree in Business
Administration, Accounting, Banking, Finance or Economics and a Master’s
degree in Business, Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, Economics or
related field.
- Hold a professional qualification - ACCA,
CPA(K) or CISA and be a registered member of ICPAK;
- Certified risk and compliance accreditation
shall be an added advantage;
- A minimum of seven (7) years working
experience in risk management practices and process implementation, three
(3) of which should be in a management position.
- Thorough knowledge of ERM concepts, financial
systems and process audit
- Have the proven ability to challenge status
quo based on facts and impacts.

Chief Manager Finance

Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the
Chief Manager Finance will be responsible for strategic financial planning and
management, financial advisory, resource mobilization and reporting.
The successful candidate will provide
effective and efficient co-ordination and supervision of accounting, financial
and treasury management through the development and implementation of sound
accounting & financial systems and internal control procedures in
accordance with regulations, standards and Sacco policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Overall management and co-ordination of the
finanœ division by leading, directing, planning and controlling of all
aspects of reporting, budgeting, final accounts and liaison with internal
and statutory auditors.
- In liaison with the Chief Executive Officer
(CEO), formulate corporate financial strategies, monitor and oversee their
successful implementation and ensure compliance with approved policies and
prudential regulatory standards.
- Create and maintain strong financial
discipline, provide periodic financial information and reports on the Sacco’s
performance to the Board of Directors and the senior management team.
- Maintain strong internal policies, processes
and controls in order to provide timely, consistent and accurate
financial, treasury and management information for effective decision making.
- Maintain good working relationships with
various stakeholders towards attainment of the Sacco’s corporate plans and
investment programs.
- Evaluate and measure finance & business
performance against the Sacco’s strategic plan, make recommendations and
presentations to enhance organizational performance to meet shareholders’
expectations.
- Attend the Board Finance, Investments and
Credit (FIC) Committee meetings as the Committee Secretary.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or
equivalent and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance,
Commerce, Accounting, or other related field.
- A professional accounting qualification CPA
(K), ACCA, ACA and a member in good standing of ICPAK for the last 5
years.
- A minimum often (10) years working experience
in financial management at senior management level as a Finance Manager or
its equivalent.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of financial
institution, IFRS standards, and SASRA guidelines.
Chief Manager Business Development

Job Summary: The
Chief Manager Business Development will report to the Chief Executive Officer
and will be responsible for business development, research, product
development, strategic marketing, brand positioning and customer relations.

- Participate in the development of the vision,
mission and strategic plan; own and deliver on business development,
marketing and sales annual plans.
- Identify, qualify and convert opportunities to
develop new business, create new target market segments, forecast
projected business and create team targets for the Sacco acquisition in
line with corporate objectives.
- Network with customers, industry players and
key stakeholders to build and retain sound relationships that create a
receptive market for growth and strengthening the Sacco’s brand.
- Improve product marketability and
profitability by research, identifying and capitalizing on market
opportunities; improving product packaging; coordinating new product
development and optimizing uptake of existing products and services.
- Develop targets, monitor and review
performance.
- Achieve high quality customer service delivery
and consistently improve customer experience.
- Attend the Board Business, Strategy and
Technology Committee (BST) meetings as the Committee Secretary.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- A B.Com. (Marketing Option) degree and a
Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field;
- At least ten (10) years’ marketing and
business development experience, preferably gained in a financial
institution.
- Active Member of a professional body (e.g.
MSK, CIM)
- Excellent report writing, negotiation and
analytical skills.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief
Manager Operations will be responsible for the management of the credit and
banking functions.
Key result areas will be to ensure
quality services and effective operations, driving business growth across the
membership catchments including the diaspora, ensuring growth of a quality loan
book, improving internal controls and systems to provide superior customer
experience.

- Ensure development and roll out of new credit

policies, systems and procedures.
- Direct and guide all operational procedures
and controls to minimise operational risks and improve management controls
for the various business units.
- Propose proactive reforms of the Society’s
banking, credit and credit-risk management strategies, policies and
procedures to ensure they remain appropriate and in line with the best
practices.
- Ensure all credit and banking transactions are
compliant with existing regulatory requirements.
- Lead and manage the operations team to deliver
a culture that supports and contributes to the strategic objectives of the
business and meet approved service standards.
- Produce timely and accurate board and
management reports.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- A university degree in Banking, Business
Administration, Finance or equivalent qualification and a Master’s degree
in related fields.
- A minimum often (10) years working experience
in banking and/or credit operations, at senior management level in a
financial institution or its equivalent.
- Experience in credit and credit risk
assessment and management, banking operations and structuring in emerging
markets.
