The Judges
and Magistrate Vetting Board was established pursuant to section 23 of the
sixth schedule to the Constitution and the vetting of Judges and Magistrates
Act 2011.
The
objective of the board is to vet the suitability of all the Judges and
Magistrates who were in office on the effective date to continue to serve in
accordance with the values and principles set out in Article 10 and 159 of the
constitution.
The Judges
and Magistrates Vetting Board seeks to recruit an officer for one year six
months non-renewable contract, to fill the following position and a competitive
salary will be offered to the successful applicant:-
Research Officer

Job Description: Research officers are answerable to
the Assisting Counsel on vetting matters / activities of the Board.
Specific duties and
responsibilities will entail
- Carry out research for the Board;
- Drafting of legal opinions;
- Receive and Compile all complaints/complements in respect of Judges and magistrate;
- Prepare summaries in respect of each Judge/Magistrate;
- Prepare files, file responses and summons for Judges and magistrate in liaison with the Assisting Counsel
- Coordinate investigation and preparation of witnesses;
- Analyze research data and compile the reports for inclusion in the statutory reports.
- Ensure completion of all projects in accordance with their terms of reference.
- Track and advice on the development of a database of research materials and give advice on the relevant periodicals, professional databases, legal sources, books and other research tools.
Job Specification
For appointment to this position,
the candidates must have:
(i) Served
for a minimum period of five(5) years, two of which must have been as a
research at a senior level in the Public Service or Private Sector or
international Organization;
(ii) A
Bachelors Degree in law; Social Sciences and any other relevant field;
OR
(iii)
Demonstrable skills in research work such as situation analysis and monitoring
and evaluation, research methodology, data collection and analysis using
appropriate software such as SPSS;and
(iv)
Demonstrate understanding of the Constitution of Kenya,its social, political,
economic landscape, both in theory and Practice.
