United Nations Development Programme
Individual Consultant –
Case Writer
Recruitment of Individual Consultant
- Case Writer: 6 Weeks Assignment; 30 Consultancy Days.
In October
2013, BCtA brought together a small group of key local stakeholders to initiate
the discussion on the role of inclusive business and barriers to successful
inclusive businesses connected to the health sector in Kenya.
In order to
ensure a more targeted discussion, the issue of access to ORS and Zinc for the
treatment of pediatric diarrhea was addressed, providing an example of supply
chains of health products.
The
Business Call to Action believes that inclusive businesses (social businesses)
can play an important role in reaching low income populations with health
knowledge, services and products.
In order
for these businesses to be successful and achieve scale of social impact, an
enabling ecosystem must exist which requires the support of local government
agencies, multilaterals, NGOs, and the private sector.
During the
discussion, it was clear that this group of stakeholders had successfully
navigated how to create and sustain this type of enabling ecosystem.
Several
themes and key success factors were discussed, and it was agreed that it could
be very helpful for other projects if the successes of this initiative could be
clearly documented in the form of a case study.
The case
study should be focused on how the public private partnership was conceived,
designed, and implemented with descriptions of the incentives necessary for
each party.
Objective: Produce (identify, analyse, and
write up) a case study and an accompanying power point presentation based on
the meeting notes and further interviews (7 to 10) with key stakeholders.
