Program Overview
The
Women Educational Researchers of Kenya (WERK) is a professional association of
researchers, with interest on education, gender and development.
In
collaboration with CfBT and other partners, WERK is setting up a monitoring and
research unit for the Wasichana Wote Wasome (WWW) project.
Overall Responsibility:
Overall Responsibility:
You
will be responsible of managing the WWW data, and other education data
available within WERK, both quantitative and qualitative, setting up and
managing the WERK Data Centre and producing various reports as per donor and
other requirements.
Specific Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities
- Design, set up
and manage the WERK Data Centre, including procurement and maintenance of
qualitative and quantitative analysis software;
- Work with and
support the WERK-WWW Project Manager to conceptualize and develop
monitoring and research tools for the WWW project;
- Maintain contact
and supervise data collection points/volunteers in WWW project sites, and
motivate the partners to submit project data on timely and accurate basis;
- Recommend set-up
of appropriate Mobile Phone Apps for data communication between WERK and
WWW project sites;
- Receive, code,
enter and analyze quantitative data from various WERK Projects, using
appropriate software;
- Receive, code,
enter and analyze qualitative data from various WERK Projects, using
appropriate software;
- Receive and
process requests for data and analysis, both descriptive and inferential;
- Initiate and
sustain periodic report production for evidence sharing.
General
Responsibilities
- Participate in
WERK processes;
- Undertake the
activities above in line with the associated budgets and with program work
plans, in ways that are consistent with WERK policies;
- Prepare and
submit quality and timely activity plans, budgets and reports for the
programs;
- Keep up to date
with educational issues in Counties, nationally, East Africa and
internationally.
- Participate in
meetings and sessions as needed;
- Undertake any
other lawful tasks as may be assigned by the Executive Officer.
Key
Competencies
- At least
Bachelor degree qualification in Statistics or other research-oriented
courses, with minimum three years experience. Master’s degree in related
field is an added advantage.
- Reasonable
understanding of the Education Sector in Kenya.
- Demonstrated
experience in conduct field-based research, both qualitative and
quantitative.
- Demonstrated
experience and skills in analyzing Qualitative and Quantitative Data, both
manually and using appropriate Analysis Software. Working knowledge of
Stata an added advantage.
- Demonstrated
skills and experience in working with large databases, both quantitative
and qualitative.
- Excellent report
writing skills, using both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Experience in
technology-based data collection and analysis applications.
- Ability to work
under strict deadlines.
- Strong
communication skills.
