Chief Actuary Job in Nairobi Kenya

The CIC Insurance Group is the leading Co-operative Insurer in Africa and the second largest insurance company in Kenya by market share.
The Group comprises three subsidiaries namely: CIC Life Assurance, CIC General Insurance Ltd and CIC Asset Management Ltd. 
The Company which was recently listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has 17 branches and has maintained a compounded annual growth rate of 62 percent in the last 5 years. 

To execute its ambitious growth and expansion strategy, the CIC Insurance Group wishes to recruit a high caliber individual in the position of Chief Actuary to provide leadership and oversee the Group’s actuarial work. 

The successful candidate will be part of the leadership team and will play a vital role in the Company’s strategic and risk management roles, as the Group seeks to expand regionally and increase insurance penetration.

Chief Actuary
Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • Play an integral role in influencing & executing overall company strategy.
  • Responsible for the company-wide implementation of policies and procedures and their improvement.
  • Technical and professional input into the investment policies and strategies of the company.
  • Working with the Group Chief Executive Officer and Subsidiary Managing Directors to provide support and guidance to the Board and act as liaison to relevant board committees.
  • Providing guidance and leadership on the measurement and reporting of profit metrics.
  • Responsible for research on business trends and practices to assist in the development of business plans and company budgets.
  • In collaboration with the IT Division Head, providing guidance on the ongoing maintenance and updating of information systems and infrastructure, including hardware and software applications.
  • Oversight of the actuarial and risk management functions that include:
  • Reserving, asset/liability functions, capital modelling, experience review, pricing, asset/liability modelling & risk management.
  • Reporting on the actuarial aspects of financial information both for statutory and internal management purposes.
  • Mentorship of other actuarial staff.
Academic and Professional Experience
  • Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
  • Possession of Post-Graduate degree will be an added advantage.
  • 8-l0 years’ experience in the Insurance Industry with extensive knowledge of insurance, pension and investment issues.
  • Several years post-qualification experience in a senior actuarial position in an actuarial firm or leading insurance company.
