1. Internal Auditor
Purpose:
To assist the Internal Audit Director to ensure proper internal controls are in place.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Develop
audit schedules and plans;
- Undertaking
audits - both financial and systems audits in accordance with annual audit
plans ;
- Making
recommendations on improvements to areas of weakness;
- Follow
up on implementation to improve internal controls;
- Provide
support to developing strong internal controls;
- Preparation
of Audit status reports to the Audit & Governance Committee
- Perform
periodic review of the fixed assets register;
- Review
year end inventory balances in preparation for the annual external audit
;and
- Assist
the Internal Audit Director in managing the Risk Management Committee.
Academic Qualification
- Bachelors
degree in Commerce / Accounts / related field Professional Qualification
- CPA
(K)/ ACCA; qualification in CISA / CIA would be an added advantage
Experience
- 3
to 4 years work experience with at least 1 year in a similar capacity
level in a busy environment
Other skills
- Good
organization, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability
to guide others / Assistants doing similar work;
- Good
analytical skills; and
- Experience
in resolving conflicts.
2. Management Accountant
Purpose of the Job:
Manage the general ledger and ensure accuracy and completeness of data and ensure
timely preparation of management reports for decision making.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare
monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc management reports and accounts;
- Consolidate
University’s Budget;
- Develop
costing models and fees schedules;
- Stock
taking – monthly / annually;
- Maintain
the fixed assets register;
- Advise
on cash flow projections;
- Prepare
University financial forecasts;
- Participate
in departmental risk identification and management;
- Supervise
and coordinate the activities of the section;
- Implement
financial policies and procedures in the section; and
- Oversee
budgetary controls and update budget holder on the status of their
departmental budgets.
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelors
degree in Commerce / Accounts / related field
Professional Qualification
- Professional
qualification in relevant field ex: CPA-K / ACCA
Experience
- 5
to 6 years relevant work experience
Other skills
- Prior
experience guiding a unit / others doing similar work;
- Ability
to supervise a team and deliver well under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Time
management skills and attention to detail;
- Good
report writing skills; and
- Analytical
skills.
